I think the death knell has been called on pubs now sadly
The death knell has been sounding for quite some time, Bobbi. Up until about 4 or 5 years ago, there were 7 pubs within 10 minutes walk from my home. There are now just the two pubs.
Yes Ken , It's a different world now isn't it?
ken a lot of pubs closed when the smoking ban in them came in and now with this, there will be even less pubs.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54449573
So why not immediate? They'll all just go on a massive bender till 6pm Friday!
It tickles me this * from 4am* and now *16 days*?..
It’s going to happen in England too, or something very similar
From what I've read it's not all of Scotland, just the central belt.

I suspect a lot of Scots will be taking a wee trip pretty soon!
Berwick's going to be busy
We have 2 leaders who are juggling Health or the Economy. They seen to be coming to different conclusions, but only time will tell which is correct.

I have just compared Manchester with Glagow.

G: 197 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week.
M: 562 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week.
.
G: 1,248 cases in the latest week (up 23)
M: 3,105 cases in the latest week. (up 1,905)

G: 6,598 total cases.
M. 10,794 Total cases.

Glasgow seems to be doing better than Manchester, but the bars are remaining open in Manchester (for the time being), and closing in Glasgow.

I feel sorry for our Scottish friends not being able to go to the pub.
They might feel sorry for the English, if they are getting a lot more coronavirus than them.

Give it a week or two and Boris Johnson will copy.

More sloppy comment. If one thing good ever comes out of this pandemic it will be the realisation that England needs the means to pass legislation that is specifically English. Sturgeon( notice that when she speaks that she is out of lip sync with herself?) and the Welsh assembly can take measures to protect themselves without concern for what anyone else thinks. England has no such luxury. All edicts/laws/special measures taken in Westminster have to apply to all of the U.K. Time for an English Parliament.
You’re a bit confused there Togo.

Westminster has not passed edicts/laws/special measures for the whole country. Parliament has not been consulted. The Government have imposed everything without a vote, and without any scrutiny. Other UK countries can make their own edicts/laws/special measures under devolved powers.
I agree England should have its own parliament, but not for the reason you state.

//Westminster has not passed edicts/laws/special measures for the whole country.//

I know ... it can't. That is what the union is about, that union is broken. That is why Parliament has not been consulted, it would be pointless. Scotland and Wales can ignore it or wait for a Parliamentary rule ... then do their own thing and wreck the idea. Politics of the feeble minded is wining. When England has it's own Parliamentary process the majority can again have an impact on U.K. decisions. As it is now the sheep farmers and tweed weavers, few as they are, can manipulate the millions of residents of England's Cities. Places that have more residents than their combined voter base.

The Government has an 80 majority, so they can let English MPs debate, scrutinise and vote - they just choose not to.
Not through fear of 48 Scots Nats blocking anything, but through fear that some of their more daft ideas will be ridiculed.
// The government is likely to tighten coronavirus restrictions for parts of England on Monday - including the possibility of closing pubs and restaurants, the BBC understands. //

Well that didn’t take long.
//Not through fear of 48 Scots Nats blocking anything, but through fear that some of their more daft ideas will be ridiculed.//

First of all ...the 80 majority are not all English MPs......geddit?

Then there is the time wasting needed to organise the whip in such an unwieldy arrangement whilst the Welsh and Scots relay the info that is being scrutinised "home" to their own Parliamentary sniffers. They can then act in advance, cos no one can stop em, making Westminster look cumbersome and indecisive. It has been happening for months now and the MSM love it. Another stick to beat the workhorse. Time for change. Big Time.
Some areas of the country have worse infection rates than some that have had lockdown imposed. Wealthy areas, like West Lancs. It should be all or nothing.
Your not making much sense Togo.
In the Conservative Party’s 80 majority are 6 Scottish Tories, but they would vote with the Government surely. And they have a Scottish Westminster leader.

MPs are voting next week. It isn’t difficult to arrange, it is what the House of Commons is for.
