I rarely begin a thread these days and I very rarely get angry enough to hurt someone badly. I could hurt this chap.

I hope enough folk see his pictures to be able to identify him.

I'd probably think about doing something nasty to him for all of a five minute knee jerk reaction but that's about it. I hope he understands how incensed people are because of his actions and the reasons why it has made the news.

Hope they keep him inside til my big angry cousins in Thrapston have calmed down!

Let the cousins at him!
Invariably in such instances a meagre and paltry sentence is meted out.

On this particular occasion, I’d be happy to see a dose of ‘street justice’.
//he may be a dead man if he's let out and that worries me greatly. //

Yes. God forbid another memorial be desecrated . Don't worry Mamyalynne I'm told, on AB, that we live in a civilised society. pffft
I doubt he'll be returning to Thrapston any time soon.

Don't mistake a lack of threats of violence or a trawl through the thesaurus for the rudest words to call him or the failure to list the ways that I'd torture him as signs that I don't care about this crime.

I do - you don't know me.

A pathetic sentence after a too often told sob story, Chill. In truth I'd like to set him loose the way I feel just now.

Ideally a very, very long stint of service to the community preferably publicly in Thrapston would suit me.
Northants police have posted today asking people not to name him on social media. Errrr....too late!
am I the only one who thinks people's reactions are way out of proportion?
I don't think you are Bednobs, as I commented above - it seems if you don't advocate violence or even worse torture then you are seen to condone this kind of act.

Nothing could be further from the truth (for me).

I've only just seen this,
I'm sure you all know my opinions,
I'd love to meet him.
Question Author
In what way, Bednobs?
just I suppose that you think of all the horrible things humans can do to each other and animals and breaking a memorial seems to pale in comparison. Yes he's a disrespectful idiot who needs some humility and some community service and to make reparations but "Beat him up" "break his fingers" "throw away the key" and other punishments recommended on here seem rather OTT
and to answer your original Q probably *** and lairy
"am I the only one who thinks people's reactions are way out of proportion?"

I'd like to have heard you ask that question to my father, bednobs.

He might have reminded you that he travelled across the channel on D+1 in a cold, wet, dangerous, unseaworthy landing-craft - to land on a beach in France, under enemy fire, to help make the country safe for you to be able to ask the question.

There are few things that make me resile from my normally 'lefty' views on crime and the causes thereof - but this is undoubtedly one of them.
What do you expect?
He was brought up in a generation that did nothing to counteract lack of respect for the law, teachers and society as a whole. Children were brought up on the basis of self expression and punishment was ineffective and looked down upon.
I say again...what do you expect?
yeah, he may well have said that. He probably wouldn't have advocated you breaking the law and hurting him though, or would he have?

Dear god, Bednobs...I just don't know what to say to you. Other than I have no idea what your 17.41 post means.
