"Until the end of next Wednesday, Corby" that means in a fortnight's time to me...
New Judge, Boris has clarifies this so that the legislation is repealed at 1 minute past midnight on the 2nd.
From Daily Express:
Boris Johnson announced England's current lockdown would come to an end next week on December 2.
To avoid confusion, the Government has opted to repeal the rules the second the new day begins.
Many people can enjoy their new freedoms from 12.01am on Wednesday, December 2, but it will depend on their area's tier status.

will phone him on the 2nd, if no answer will keep on trying following day, if no joy at all, will assume he's gone out of business.
Fingers crossed Emmie, he may have just decided not to change his plans , or he may not have seen the news.

he watches news all right, but they had plans to retire earlier this year. But the deal fell through. I will call him on 2nd/3rd if worse comes to the worse will pop over there. He doesn't believe in modern technology,
Rather than admit he got it wrong, legislation will be used to make his statement accurate.
So the lockdown will only have lasted 27 days then?
It seems that way.
We had this discussion before, when I used a 'primary source' (the Gov.uk website) to state that hairdressers could reopen on 2nd December and TCL used a different primary source (the actual Regulations which brought the second lockdown into effect) to show that, according to the Regulations, they couldn't reopen until the 3rd:

NJ pointed out there that it appeared that we've got a government that can't count up to 28! I suspect that he might agree with me now when I suggest that "to avoid confusion" (in Ubasses' quote from the Daily Express) actually means "to cover up a mistake" ;-)
If they want to introduce new legislation from Wednesday, that gives them a day less to do it in than they would have had originally.

I'm sure all the officials involved in drafting the new Regs relish the extra pressure being put upon them.
