we have a lot of visitors to the capital, perhaps many don;t read the papers, understand the severity of the virus. Those who have large families for example in the Asian communities, it must be impossible to socially distance. There are so many variables, one can;t police it, Boris can only make a judgement call on the info given to him at any one time.
We have a massive family and a massive circle of friends. When you only know a life of being surrounded by people this lock down has a big impact.
Arrest everyone who has a party, fine them, whatever, but have some sympathy for people who have never been on their own before and just want to see their family.
i want to see my family too. I have every sympathy for those wishing to see theirs. The police can do almost nothing, its not policeable, if people want to throw caution to the wind that is their look out im afraid.
I don't understand the pictures of shoppers without masks. Portugal you cannot enter a shop without a mask and numbers allowed in are limited. We have just had two four day weekends not being allowed out of our council areas without proof of necessity. Businesses asked not to open and most did not. Restaurants open after 1pm for take out only. The police were out in force at council borders. Very polite, let those with proof continue. Those without sent home. Dec 23 to 26 families can mix in homes, up to six for restaurants. No travel after 2am each day. No New Year party or dining out at the moment. Even the kids make sure they have masks for shopping. Maybe because we are dependent on tourists and want things back to normal we are obeying the mask rule or maybe the country was once a dictatorship and obedience is built in
but it can't be policed, if ten people get together in a household rather than six that has been advised who is to know. Some like Piers Corbyn have been fined, he hasn't paid the 10,000 pounds yet.
i only know from our local stores, many of the staff themselves are not wearing masks, and some of those customers weren't wearing them either, though the majority seem to be sticking to wearing one, does it give adequate protection?
and likely it will douglas. The virus has come out of nowhere and has had a devastating effect on many families and will likely do so for a long time to come.
each has to make up his or her mind what is right for them. If you made it a law, many might still break it, its in the nature of people not to always follow the rules.
