It'll take a year to vaccinate the country, right oh? from the same people that said it would take at least 2 years to have a vaccine ready to go! I reckon we'll be all done by Easter.

I trust the scientists.
Ttt, do you think there is anyone you would trust to give better information ?
i don't know how many people come into UK every year but it must be millions. When this virus first started people were just being let through the airports no checks, nothing. Would all people be checked before being allowed in?
//////Why Do We Listen To These "Experts"////

Some people don't and one respects that point of view, but they are" experts", trained, intellectual astute in their particular field, but not infallible, but are by far the best gestimates for specialised situations.
The prof on AB is a good example of an expert in his particular field in a virologist pandemic in which we are enveloped and Peter Pedant if you can understand him.
You can listen to New Judge, sqad, Buenchico, Wolfgang and whoever you choice, but personally give me the "experts" every time.
sqad i agree, like Boris one can only go on the information given at that particular time.
“ and as been posted the virus mutates, this vaccine may not be effective then.”

All viruses mutate.
At the moment there is nothing to suggest the vaccines we have won’t be effective in the short to medium term.
However it is wise not to be misled by over optimism.
i posted the link ick, sqad asked the question
Population of the Earth 8 billion, no matter how you try to dress it up, it's an impossibility, so it's down to global herd immunity (or not!).

I saw pictures last night of those million mink that had to be slaughtered, they were living 2 to a cage which was the size of a breadbin. What we are doing to the planet's flora & fauna makes me think nature strikes back & we deserve to perish.
believe or don't believe TTT, get your vaccines done when next available
Khandro and it could well be our undoing.

sqad: "The prof on AB is a good example of an expert in his particular field in a virologist pandemic in which we are enveloped and Peter Pedant if you can understand him." - PMSL, what's PP and expert in? I've never detected any sort of knowledge or intelligence in his drivel.
Tora, I think you're being enthusiastically optimistic about Easter. It's a herculean task to vaccinate an entire population and as Khandro and Emmie have pointed out, to get back to normal we need to consider visitors. If normal includes foreign holidays, then this is a further complication.

No one is expressing 'glass half empty' opinions, merely realistic ones.
It’s reckoned that every day a new virus passes from animals to humans in SE Asia
//It'll take a year to vaccinate the country, right oh?//

It “could take up to a year” is what’s said
steg, it does, but going on the simple logistics of vaccinating 65 million souls in this country, seems a fair bet that it will take longer than easter.
But if it ceases to help after six months, it's like having to paint the Forth Road Bridge.
To have the whole pop vaccinated by easter would mean vaccinating almost 600,000 people a day. 414,000 per day for your 70% of the population.
//steg, it does, but going on the simple logistics of vaccinating 65 million souls in this country, seems a fair bet that it will take longer than easter.//

Aye I agree, it most likely will take longer than Easter and as scientists are saying it could take up to a year even if things go smoothly.
And that's starting TODAY!

Isn't the current programme to vaccinate all over 50s and anyone younger with a serious health condition? So not 65 million.
