I wonder just how many of those who voted for Joe Biden did so believing he probably wouldn't quite last the course and would have to hand over power to his VP. If i were a betting man, i'd lump on there being quite a few who did so.

Sunk: Not criticising him at all. I'll have my Biden for Pres cap on my bonce shortly. Just think people over seventy slow down and it's pretty daft to think they don't.
Ich: I'm very hopeful for a Biden presidency. We should give thanks to Almighty God that Trump is out. Biden comes across as a thoroughly decent man but he is, after all, a pol and, in my limited experience, most pols are self-serving narcissists.
He’s come some way from the Kinnock speech fiasco and his notorious “we’ll hang ‘em all” or whatever it was days.
And he’s replacing the creature from the swamp so ...
ichkeria
People seem to have killed the man off before he’s even taken office.
I prefer the current Joe Biden to many of his younger versions.

You prefer the lying Biden, then.
Unless of course, he has actually changed his views.
Reagan got the job when he was 70 and managed two terms without dying. Not that he was what you'd call an activist; Republican presidents seem to spend more time playing golf than Democrat ones, for reasons that elude me.
I know it’s ancient history.
Like I say, I prefer him as the 78 year old wiser more compassionate one.
You plainly think he’s good presidential material and do I.
So why fuss about his age?
Well Trudeau and Macron are two pretty young and important western leaders.
I think Biden was a special case: he was always the one Trump feared as the moderate he’d find it hard to brand a Marxist or whatever, so he pushed the fraud lie instead.
It’s ironic that a lot of people - especially on here - claim that you don’t become politically “sensible” (or vote Tory) until you’re older and yet here is a prime example of a politician who has “wised up” with age.
This nonsense about Reagan not suffering from dementia in his second term needs to be addressed. No, Reagan wasn't enjoying anything like a reasonable level of cognisance. Read his son's memoir or the views of Weinburger, Don Rumsfeld, Regan, Bradlee etc. There is a wealth of intelligence that the poor guy had completely lost the plot.
