yougov has done some polling among US voters on the capitol attack... some astonishing results

https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/articles-reports/2021/01/06/US-capitol-trump-poll

"In fact, many Republicans (45%) actively support the actions of those at the Capitol, although as many expressed their opposition (43%). "

"Far fewer voters think President-elect Joe Biden is a great deal (17%) or somewhat (9%) to blame. That being said, Biden is the biggest culprit in the eyes of Republicans, at 52%, compared to 28% for Donald Trump and 26% for the Congressional Republicans who opposed certification of the election results. "

Why do so many republicans believe things that are obviously untrue?

my sister is an American. She was telling me last night that there's no appetite in general over there for getting rid of him. Most people simply want to get on. bit like Brexit over here - even die hard remainers are just pleased it's over and they don't have to hear about it much any more

"Even McConnell comes out of the events of the last week or so in a ... shall we say, less unfavourable, light."

I don't agree jim. He helped to start the fire and was horrified only when the flames reached his door.
> But even at the immediate cost of some more fisticuffs literal and metaphorical, Trump should, one way or the other, be pursued and isolated.

Of course he should. He was involved in an anarchistic attack on America, its democracy and values. What patriotic American is going to have a problem with seeking justice?
I guess it's subjective how to judge this, but in my opinion McConnell's actions in the last four years (and, for that matter, the several years prior when he was frustrating Obama's agenda) aren't explained by an undying loyalty to Trump.

he worked tirelessly to save Trump's bacon on the first impeachment when the president was quite obviously guilty.
I don't dispute that, but I don't know if it can be read as a product of his (prior) undying loyalty to Trump. I'd point to people like Collins and Murkowski, who have never really been Trump supporters, but are (currently) still Republicans, as other examples. Hopefully, Collins is feeling suitably embarrassed and ashamed of her "he's learned his lesson" spiel after that first impeachment.
The one thing that perturbed me about Donald Trump was the statement "I could shoot somebody and not lose any voters." That now appears to be the most truthful statement he has ever made
And yet another thread proving that many ABers think Lefty violence good...Righty violence bad.

If you didn't condemn the violence of BLM and Antifa then you have a seriously *** moral compass and are being total hypocrites. Personally I can't distinguish the BLM/Antifa scum from the QAnon scum.

I don’t see anyone here condoning any sort of violence
As for getting rid of Trump, it’s not the point either. It’s bringing him to account and ideally stopping him being able to hold any sort of power.
I don’t see anyone here condoning any sort of violence

Did you condem the violence at the time, Untitled or are you a genuine new ABer?

Some Repulicans will believe lies for the same reasons some Democrats will believe lies.
Same question to you, tomus...genuine new user or just silent on the BLM/Antifa violence?
The answer is none then Roy. Have you condemned the attack on the capitol, or do you think righty violence is good?
Also, what do you think those 'protestors' were angry about? Do you believe the election was stolen by democrat voting fraud?

The answer is none then Roy.
_____________

what?
The answer is no one here.
There’s no need to be aggressive.
You can provide no examples of any answer on this thread proving that ABers think lefty violence is good. That's what.

The thread isn't even about violence, but you are giving us a good example of what it is about.. right wing eejits making up their own reality.
