hymie: "These unelected foreigners have consistently passed legislation that provides protection for me through EU Directives. " - I assume you are unskilled that therefore cannot choose your employer. "Virtually all EU Directives have the interest of EU citizens as their basis, and not the interest of big business." - it may look like that but in reality they value only their "project", to create a USE with unelected despot leaders.
"No British MP has ever expressed any genuine interest in my wellbeing/interests – they are only interested in keeping their snouts in the trough (including bungs from big business)." - err have you seen the EUSSR gravy train?
"How many EU Commissioners are in the pay of big business? " - all of them.

If I was large corporation giving bungs to EU commissioners – I’d want them to stop imposing EU Directives on my company that give EU citizens rights and cost me money to comply with them (or I’d want my money back).
Hymie - did you not read the words “could” and “claims” and did you miss the three times it was stated there would be no erosion?

Reports like this one are best ignored as pure speculation.
Crikey - I’ve just read Hymie’s 11.49pm post; had I known Hymie was a conspiracy nut I wouldn’t have bothered joining this thread.
The EWTD was a joke.
Overtime enabled me to give my family a decent life.
Why should the have interfered?

Private Eye regularly exposes the corruption of our MPs (and other leaders) – I can’t recall reading therein about EU commissioners taking a bung. For that matter, I’ve never read such a story in the Daily Mail – their journalists need to get on the case.
A lot depends on how the ideological differences in the cabinet get worked out. The Raabid “Britannia unchained” brigade versus the “up levellers”
It’s high time the former were sent packing IMO as they sound slightly unhinged, but it depends whose idea of the myth of “rebuilding Britain” holds sway.

Quite possibly neither, or a useless combination of the two. That would be the Johnson way.
I wouldn't mind betting that hamie either isn't "employed" or is well past employment age.
Autocorrect ... hymie
//Fact is, people who would have been better off remaining were persuaded to vote leave by people who will make a mint from leaving.//

I wasn’t persuaded to vote to leave by anyone. I decided in 1992 that if I ever had the opportunity to express my choice I would do so. Nobody persuaded me of that then – I made my own mind up – and nothing anybody has said or done since has changed my mind. In fact events since then simply stiffened my resolve. I had no expectations of being better off by leaving. Nothing any government has done has ever made me better off. Quite the reverse in fact. My financial circumstances were not even a remote consideration.

//How many EU Commissioners are in the pay of big business?//

I’ve no idea. I’ve tried to ignore as much of their verbiage as I can and have no interest in their financial affairs. In any case they skim enough (untaxed) off the top of the unaudited EU budget, much of which was paid by UK taxpayers. The EU may have passed directives of which you are in favour. Unfortunately many (though not all) are not usually in the best interests of the majority of people in the UK. The measures they have taken that are in the UK’s best interests can easily be retain or replicated by the Westminster government.
Many people were not persuaded by anyone NJ, but many were.
No doubt many were persuaded to remain because the didn't want to trigger a pesky WW3
We have left.

Get over it.
These unelected "officials" have recently passed legislation that allows mealworms to be sold as fit for human consumption. Hope all the remainiacs are tucking into a bowl on a regular basis as of now. Shame for the birds though. The price will now be jacked up to a price that means they wont get them anymore and a brand new industry concerned with the rights and treatment of mealworms in captivity will blossom. The animal rights loonies will be laying plans for releasing them into the wild as we speak.

Just like every death is coviiiid, every job loss is Breeeexit. Haha. Meanwhile millions of French citizens are in real lockdown with a 6pm curfew every night from today. Except the illegal immigrants. They are free to travel across the country to get to the Channel 24/7 and can now catch the sponsored overnight transport without being impeded by our former "partners". No job losses due to Brexit there apparently, the losses of employment are all due to the global mass panic. In another universe entirely the first miniature demands that Westminster( the English) send billions of more pooonds urgently or she will make a fuss. This is money that has been "set aside" for events in 2021/22 by the treasury but wee burney wants hers now having squandered all the money already sent North by the trainload. Gordon Brown is reportedly keeping an eye on things and planning to save the whirled again by ousting the only person in the universe that is a worse budget controller than him. I know my rights, ... but more importantly can spot wrongs a mile off.

Togo – I’m still in fulltime employment and have a few years until the government will pay me a pension (for all the years I have been paying N.I./tax).
During my over 45 years of employment I’ve only claimed JSA once, for a period of around two months (while between jobs).

The only compensation for my age is that I will not suffer too much from the changes our government will enact – reducing the many benefits of being a European citizen.

I also won’t live long enough to pay back the national debt racked up due to the Covid pandemic (and government incompetence).
The loss of EU rights and national debt will fall heavy on the generations to come.
//...reducing the many benefits of being a European citizen.//

Perhaps you could mention a few, the loss of which will cause you so much grief.
You won't get a pension Hymie, you'll get benefits. That's what the pension is called inmy yearly letter from DWP.

NJ – you can bet your life over the coming years I will be regularly posting details of law changes detrimental to UK citizens’ rights (or that would have been given) as EU citizens.

Already by the act of leaving, we have lost the right to live and work in any member country, and there are many, many more losses (as a result of leaving).
