Perhaps we should spare a thought for poor old Hillary. Old Joe could beat Trump but she couldn't. Never even made it to VP, unlike Kamela. Good job she had a mask on. Nice to see her and Bill together, however, as they've lived apart for 17 years.
Also, don't think the world's greatest speechwriters did a terribly good job for Joe. Apart from 'let's end this uncivil war', which I rather liked, everything else in the speech was predictable. That said, there might have been a case for being consensual and calm.
Great to see Kamala and her extended family walking to the event. Don't think Joe and Jill did anything wrong but was just struck, as many others have said, that the old chap is looking his age and electing 78-year-old presidents is plain daft.

As for Biden, good thing he's got Obama behind him as I think he will flounder.

When sparing a thought for Hillary, it's worth remembering that she actually got 2,868,686 MORE votes than DT did - but I don't remember her spouting "Stop the steal!"

As Tomus42 points out, she didn't have the advantage of having the American public know what a Trump presidency could be like but she probably lost the election when she 'misremembered' being shot at in Bosnia.

That's a bit extreme...2 hours of coverage on the day. There's a good sized ex-pat community here that is grateful for the news coverage. I bet it's more than any American network would cover UK elections. And this election, along with the previous 4 years, has been a bit...exceptional.

What did I think of the inauguration? I stuck with Joe throughout his expected All American Boy speech; Lady Gaga I like, a very talented lady - although her dress left much to be desired but that's neither her nor there really; Jennifer Lopez, who, as ‘they’ say ‘made it her own, would have been better suited auditioning for the X-Factor, and I gave the Poet Laureate’s shameful abuse of the occasion a fair hearing before nausea took over. 4/10.

The "why can't we all be friends speech" was all very well. He mentioned (rightly) the white supremacists but not the Antifa or BLM rioters who were cheered on by the knee-taking politicians and elites.

Old Joe could beat Trump but she couldn't

she got about 3 million votes more than Trump - just in the wrong states, thanks to the odd US electoral system. Biden had to get 7 million more and Trump still thinks he's won.

A very colourful well presented inauguration. Went without a hitch. A big sigh of relief from many Americans now trump and his robotic family have gone.

I just read the Poet Laureate's poem...felt it was stunning and inspiring. It will stay with me for a good while.
