I was under the impression you weren't allowed to meet in other peoples houses.Pritti Patel now says at latest briefing,On BBC/SKY News now, you will be fined £800 for having House Parties of more than 15 people. Am I missing something or are we allowed to meet in other peoples houses?

Pritti Hopeless,enough said.
No you are not but you will be fined if that gathering is over 15. Presumably you would have the errors of your ways explained to you if you have up to 14 in your house - well for the first time anyway but don't expect to get away with it a second time.
I don't want anybody in our house at moment (except medical services) let alone 15, the man is daft.
Which man?
I think that makes sense. If you have a couple of people around then that may be excusable for many reasons although not sensible or allowed so discussion and warning is probably appropriate....but if there are 15 in the house that's likely to be a deliberate infringement and should be dealt with accordingly.
Not sure, but you might have £200 fines for having peeps in your house. It's just changed to £800 if the number of people is over 15
No, we aren't allowed to mix households. I think it's part of a greater crackdown on when people having parties to act as more of a deterrent as they are still happening frequently it seems.

Quite a few still being busted around here, and they are just the ones they're tipped off about.
She isn't saying that house parties of any size are legal or advisable, she is announcing the new rates of fines from next week.

That's rotten, Douglas.

Well why say more than 15 people?
I've just seen this on the news and the way I understood it is if you break the lockdown rules and have a few people round, you'll be fined the normal amount (is it £200??) .... once you start having lots of people round and you have more than 15 people, the fine goes up to £800.
That's my take on it anyway :)
Roy a typo, I meant woman
Contact her and ask how the figure of 15 was arrived at for the higher fines.

Either that or cancel the party you were planning and use some common sense.

So you can have 14 and pay £200,Gizmonster?
The fine is "a first fine of £800 to anyone attending a house party, up from £200", it's not just for someone hosting/organising a party with more than 15 people, it's for anyone who attends one. To try and dissuade people from going to them in the first place.
You shouldn't have anyone in your home, just the fines go up for the more people breaking the guidance by mixing households. The bigger the gathering, the more the fine, incrementally.
sounds like it, Unsureme. They have to draw lines and one of them is between 14 and 15.

And it used to be 13 was the unlucky number at dinner.
