I was under the impression you weren't allowed to meet in other peoples houses.Pritti Patel now says at latest briefing,On BBC/SKY News now, you will be fined £800 for having House Parties of more than 15 people. Am I missing something or are we allowed to meet in other peoples houses?
No you are not but you will be fined if that gathering is over 15. Presumably you would have the errors of your ways explained to you if you have up to 14 in your house - well for the first time anyway but don't expect to get away with it a second time.
I think that makes sense. If you have a couple of people around then that may be excusable for many reasons although not sensible or allowed so discussion and warning is probably appropriate....but if there are 15 in the house that's likely to be a deliberate infringement and should be dealt with accordingly.
No, we aren't allowed to mix households. I think it's part of a greater crackdown on when people having parties to act as more of a deterrent as they are still happening frequently it seems.
Quite a few still being busted around here, and they are just the ones they're tipped off about.
I've just seen this on the news and the way I understood it is if you break the lockdown rules and have a few people round, you'll be fined the normal amount (is it £200??) .... once you start having lots of people round and you have more than 15 people, the fine goes up to £800.
That's my take on it anyway :)
The fine is "a first fine of £800 to anyone attending a house party, up from £200", it's not just for someone hosting/organising a party with more than 15 people, it's for anyone who attends one. To try and dissuade people from going to them in the first place.
You shouldn't have anyone in your home, just the fines go up for the more people breaking the guidance by mixing households. The bigger the gathering, the more the fine, incrementally.
