The Thin End Of The Wedge For Macron?
The latest polls in France show Marine le Penn ahead of him & she said at the last election it was always 2021 she had her eyes on, with much dissatisfaction on the EU project in France, Frexit looking more of a possibility, methinks.

The difficulty Le Pen has that she would struggle to pick up many more votes in a run-off, as the Le pen dynasty has already found twice.
In that regard her party, call it what you will, and the rebranding has probably helped, does serve to unite France :-0)
A poll a year in advance of an election when there's no great certainty as to who all the candidates will be is also interesting, but probably no more. Last time the Far Right candidate polled 21.3% but that was in a field which comprised an unusually large number of "big name" candidates, with the winner turning out to be someone most even in France had not heard much of a year previously.

ichi: I agree & I don't hold much truck with polls anyway, but I gather there is much disquiet with Macron & I find it hard to see him being re-elected, she is certainly a big name & a contender
Don't know who else is waiting in the wings, even Barnier has been muted but he is too besmirched with his EU credentials I think.

Hmmm. Le Pen has gone to great lengths to ditch her dad. She abandoned her promise of Frexit when the new party was formed (I knew several people were disappointed). From experience - the vast majority of country folk in France are opposed to the EU and I know of 2 communes which voted 100% for her party. it could happen.
