shear madness. But I do wonder how the authorities look on cops with messy hair.
Next week they will run the story of all the Police Officers with long and unruly hair.

I used to read the Daily Mail but it more fiction than fact these days.
As long as people continue to flout guidelines then the end is further away than it should be.

This story is very much fact not fiction.
While I have no faith in the Daily Wail, this story is fact rather than fiction as the same incident is reported in the Guardian.
I really do not get this. Buy clippers. use clippers. End of story.
About time the scruffy beggars got tidied up.

Not quite. You can't cut your own hair (unless you want it to look like it's been done with a knife & fork). Even hairdressers do not cut their own hair.

That said, these idiots broke the law. No doubt their superiors will be encouraging them tomorrow to go out and hassle a few old ladies who have "travelled too far" to get a pint of milk.
Wolf63: A challenge for you. Find a story in the Daily Mail over the next seven days that is 'simply' not true.
IMO they should also face disciplinry charges of bringing the force into disrepute
// Even hairdressers do not cut their own hair.//
sort of like police dont arrest themselves

so - a/c milord - the police cant cut their own hair wiv clippers - because one cant ( the great clipper ) cut his own hair

No wonder the justice system is the mess we are told.....

AB - yeah classical quote coming up!
instead of - lasc' ogni sperata voi ch'entrate ( er Dante Alighieri that is!) at the door
it should be - " punters please leave wigs and braynz at the door !"

and er finally
al fine uscimo arriveder' le stelle !
g'night boys and gurlz
I have cut my own hair for the last 27 years.
Did they break the law or did they go against guidance?
//Did they break the law or did they go against guidance?//

They broke the law.

The officers did so because they were outside of the place they lived in order to get a haircut. That is not among the non-exhaustive list of reasons to be outside home and I doubt very much if a court would accept that it is such a reason.

Even if it did, each of them and the hairdresser also broke the law whilst the haircut was undertaken as they were involved in a "gathering" indoors which consisted of two or more persons. There are exceptions which allow such gatherings but having a haircut is not one of them.

It's quite easy for the government to legislate to prevent people doing what it does not want them to do.

Quite right bobbin. And whoever organised the event should face the £10,000 fixed penalty that is available to those who organise mass gatherings.
How idiotic can you get!
It is absolutely possible to cut one's own hair, especially if you want a clipper haircut. My husband did it for the last 10 years of his life. My hair is long. I trim my own fringe and ends.
Can't help noticing that all the rule makers (except for Boris, of course) look reasonably coiffed on TV.
Probably following the Nancy and Lori rules.
I cut my husband's hair for decades because it looked better cut by me than our barber. He now uses my mobile hairdresser as I can't stand for any length of time and a new right shoulder hasn't helped. My son does his with clippers. It's not too difficult. His wife does the back. I am presuming these were male cops, but there is simply no reason that any active male can't have clipped hair and if there hair gets too long they can tie it back or have a man bun.
Their hair!
