On the plus side there are some Europeans who enjoy rotten fish.
//I am surprised the Scots voted for brexit, thought they would have had more sense.//

They didn't. They voted to Remain by 62% to 38%.
//im angry with all the liars who promised them a magical, bright future outwith the EU.//

We've only been out (properly) for a month. Nobody said there would not be changes.
If this is what it is like within the first five weeks, then i can see this country being like Albania shortly.Madness.I suppose your job is safe down in London,nj.Up here in Scotland there is a lot of jobs dependent on selling stuff to the EU.I think the EU is the biggest buyers of our seafish,95%in fact. They are not buying now. Thanks for voting Brexit.
17.26 Ynnafymmi. probably the same women you work with believed in what Boris wrote on his bus.
Didn't any one tell them that Boris is a born liar.
why would they not be buying now Ynnfm
i don't get why things should suddenly change, please explain... i am not based in Scotland, but am curious to know what happens.
Do all the other non-EU countries have the same paperwork problems such as Belarus, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Monaco, Liechtenstein, etc?
@18.03.Too much paperwork and bureaucracy from the EU side unfortunately.Every shipment from a third country like Britain has to go through extensive checks before it gets into the EU.These checks can go on for ages.Seafood unfortunately doesnt have a long shelf-life.Two or three days overlate at their destination and the whole lot gets sent back(with the sender picking up the costs, which they cant afford)and the whole consignment worth about £100,00 gets tipped into a landfill site.
ok thanks for the explanation...
//Do all the other non-EU countries have the same paperwork problems...//

No they don't. That's because they didn't have the temerity to leave the EU (and in fact were not foolish enough to join in the first place). There was never any doubt that whatever agreement was struck, the EU would make it as inconvenient as possible after we left. There is no reason, under the Agreement, why fish caught by UK boats should not be landed in Europe as they were prior to last month. They are simply being denied the facility because of bloody-mindedness.

This was always threatened by the EU both before and after the referendum. I'm afraid anybody suggesting we should not have left the EU because of those threats does not understand the British psyche.
I hate to say this, but when I voted for Brexit I failed to take into account the effect upon a few Peterhead fishwives.
It works both ways,Emmie.Remember that £44,000 BMW that you bought a couple of years ago, well now it is going to cost you £50,000.A lot of us working class yobs wont be buying expensive BMWs or Mercedes any more...that will teach the Germans not to mess with us Brits,eh.
YNNAFYMMI, in the Brexit vote in Scotland, 1,661,191 voted remain and 1,018,322 voted leave.

Using the percentages you gave for the three main parties and applying them to the 2015 General Election results in Scotland, leaves you 344,973 short for the remain vote.

Perhaps you need to have another go?
That should read, "344,973 short for the leave vote."
i don't drive to be fair. and even if i did, its likely i wouldn't buy a German car. But i don't know the full ramifications of the Brexit deal, and im sure many don't. until a while down the line...
@18.27.Their club, their rules Nj.We can do the same to them,as i have wrote above, tax all their expensive cars and champagne to the limit.Us working class yobs will stop buying their £50,000 cars and £1000 bottles of champagne. That will teach Johnnie Foreignor not to mess with us Brits.
//These checks can go on for ages.Seafood unfortunately doesnt have a long shelf-life.// sic.

Explain who is setting the time scale for "these checks", and tell us whether you think that they know, that making the process with speed is, a common sense attitude when it concerns fresh food. If you don't know the answers just say so. I am sure that someone can help you understand.
@18.35.Sorry,honey,like the rest of us you have been sold a pup.You preffered to believe the lies on the side of a bus.Personally i hope it doesnt hurt you too much.Me,i fear for my livelihood. But i hope you dont lose too much sleep worrying about it.:-(((
sorry if its hurting you financially - i won't lose sleep over it no, but doesn't mean i don't sympathise.
