Incidentally, I wonder how many republican politicians will think hard about their position, having seen the videos of what went on. Will they be disgusted and dare to stand up for civilisation, or will they be too intimidated to do so? I doubt ANY paid spies were in the Capitol riot.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if agents sowing the seeds of discontent help fuel the situation. Russia and China would be very happy to destabilise the US.
Doing the actual thuggery would put enemy agents in peril of being caught, so they would not participate on the ‘front line’.

They had to find something like 17 out of 50 Republican senators with a conscience who would be prepared to do the right thing irrespective of political repercussions, so it was always an impossible task.

They did well to find seven. The good news is that Trump is not barred from standing for office again, which means that he might, which means the Democrats will win the next election.
