It seems as if this is the new normal. Will we ever get back to not wearing masks, seeing our loved ones, traveling, and hugging people etc. Is this forever?

Yes we will and no, it isn't.
Hopefully vaccine herd immunity will enable some sort of normality by the end of the year, if not sooner.

Probably

I know it will but it just seems like it’s hopeless right now.
!?
I think our perception of normal will change. It's what had happened throughout history. Things change, attitudes change. We will accept the new normal. In time.
From Aunty Beeb:
"[Q] Will we have to keep wearing masks or face coverings?

[A]] Once more people have had a vaccine and more is known about how they affect the transmission of Covid, other measures to limit its spread can be reviewed, the government says.

This will include the wearing of face masks or coverings.

They might still be needed in some circumstances and particularly during winter, however.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said he hopes they would become the norm on public transport as a matter of "personal responsibility". "

So it seems that we might need to get used to the idea that we'll have to wear masks on buses, trains and planes indefinitely, as well as elsewhere (perhaps such as in shops) during the winter months in years to come.

I've seen similar views from scientists expressed elsewhere. (i.e. wearing masks when going shopping, etc will simply become the norm in future).
Don't be despondent Emily things will improve with vaccine and warmer weather. Winter months we will have to be careful. Stay safe and healthy.
It will be a long time before I venture out without a face mask and socially distancing. Will have to see what happens after schools return on 8th March.

During this 'pandemic' ive continued to be maskless where possible,
Ive continued to meet up with loved ones, friends and family and continued to hug who the hell I want to bloody hug.

So you are happy to put others at risk and possibly suffer in the same manner as your mother has? How odd and selfish
OK nailit, each to thier own viewpoint, I cannot afford to bring Covid home and infect my vulnerable partner.
//So you are happy to put others at risk and possibly suffer in the same manner as your mother has? //
Wasnt aware that you could catch bone cancer through not wearing a mask.....
You are far from alone in that way of thinking and behaviour, Nailit. Some have been lucky but you don't have to look far to see that some weren't.

Many of us did what we hoped was the best for others and went by the rules.
Whether or not it helped is perhaps debatable...but at least those who did aren't as selfish as you. You really are selfish and uncaring of others to have behaved in this way.

But you have seen her struggle and suffer and fight for life but you are happy to put others through the same by your selfish behaviour and pathetic excuses
You seem to be proud of your actions nailit, and somewhat boastful. It just shows how little respect you have for the health and safety of others.

Thank you.
So as a key worker im some kind of bloody hero because I work with people outside of my bubble and have to mix with strangers and the public etc, but because I choose to mix with a couple of relatives and friends Im aslo Satan and selfish?
Makes perfect sense...
What if your relatives mix with others that you do not know about and they pass Covid on to you the non mask wearing rebel.
No we will never get back to normal while we have the nailits about unfortunately
I did not say Satan and you're now backing off with a couple of friends and relatives as opposed to what you posted earlier.
So nailit in your keyworker role you don't have to wear any PPE or socially distance then?
