Been plenty of open goals in the last year but Boris is still wiping the floor with him. Have real Labour seen enough?

Hope not, he's the one for me.
He should be more willing to ask for corporation tax increases tho, since it sounds good to Labour supporters and at the end of the day it doesnt matter because Rishi Sunak will do what he wants so whats he got to loose by asking for companys to pay a bit more.
There has only been one issue this past year, and that is apolitical - Covid. The Opposition in times of crisis should not be petty point scoring but should be broadly supportive. And while there are travel restrictions, there is hardly any campaigning.
So yes, the Opposition are not doing much opposing, but that is commendable until things get back to normal.

bob, oddly enough yesterday we had the unusual situation of Labour being against tax rises and many Tories in favour!
well said sunk.
Well done for persevering with the Captain Hindsight nickname but I don’t think it is sticking because it just doesn’t fit the facts.

For the last 6 months Starmer has been saying the Government must do this, or not do that. And for 6 months dithering Boris slaps the suggestion down only to do a U-turn and do exactly what Starmer had suggested weeks before.
labour missed a trick when they failed to elect Rebecca Wrong-Daily. Perhaps they will remedy this next time round.
If Labour succumbs to the intellectual might of Ian Lavery and Richard Burgon then it is surely doomed.
These are not normal times, with the current national emergency. Starmer is doing the right thing just now not "going after" Johnson.
I agree with bobbin and sunk.
The Tories are also potentially a prey to ideological differences, what with the "spend to save the red wall" lot versus the "Britannia unchained" fanatics
It may well be that neither Captain Hindsight nor Captain Chaos will contest the next election. Boris was all about Brexit and that job is done. His handling of the Covid crisis has been very, very poor and there are still plenty on his own side who would prefer someone else at the helm.
I did wonder who the OP meant by Capt. H!

Corbyn listened to "grass roots activists" and look what happened to him. The only way for Labour to make a decent showing is to suppress the hard left & convince voters they won't spring up once in power.
a la Kinnock/Blair.
// Corbyn listened to "grass roots activists" and look what happened to him. //

Not sure he did listen. Brexit was won in the North east and Labour’s heartlands. Labour voters supported Brexit and the Labour Party didn’t. Corbyn attempted a ludicrous fudge at the General Election and Labour voters rejected it.
The grass roots activists opposed Brexit sunk. You’re confusing activists and voters.
Labour voters as a whole also opposed Brexit actually. What happened in the 2019 election was pretty much unavoidable. If Labour hadn’t been shafted by its “traditional” voters over Brexit they’d have been shafted by their policies. That’s the fact people like Lavery and co refuse to acknowledge

ich: "What happened in the 2019 election was pretty much unavoidable." - that's funny, I remember you and others predicting a hung parliament at the time.
a new archrival for boris? bet he's quaking in his boots . . .
I was “hoping” for a hung Parliament as I didn’t want Corbyn or Johnson, possibly the worst choice eve lr given to the electorate certainly in living memory.. but my point is that it wasn’t just Brexit that did for Corbyn and co - it was also their policies on the economy.
