As the fall-out from 'that interview' continues to rumble, the royal couple lose much of their popularity.
If you are going to plan and execute a PR stunt like being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, it helps if you have a good view of the whole picture, and at least an idea of what you want to gain from the exercise, and if you think that gain will materialise.
My view is that Harry was naive enough to imagine that presenting 'their truth' would gain sympathy for what he perceives as the mistreatment of himself and his wife.
Meghan on the other hand was more likely to see a PR opportunity in the US, which has succeeded, and is indifferent to the views in the UK, because she has no intention of returning here.
What Harry fails to grasp is that this is a game he will never win.
Because of his status and wealth, any wingeing and moaning, especially about having 'no money' is only ever going to be met with rampant hostility.
He is born into privelidge and wealth, which is not his choice or fault, but that does not mean that moaning about it in public will ever gain support or sympathy, it simply will not, ever.
Harry stating that his father and brother are 'trapped' is entirely his perception, and probably an erroneous one at that - both princes seem to accept their situation and destiny perfectly happily, and each of their wives knew exactly what she was marrying into - unlike Meghan who claims to have been ignorant of the protocols and expectations required of her as a royal wife.
Meghan will see the results as a success - a higher supportive profile in the US than ever, and Harry will remain baffled as to why is is so 'misunderstood' by the British press and people.
He needs to grow up and accept that being an adult means accepting things you cannot alter, and stop moaning about them and sounding ungrateful, immature, and chippy.
Learn from your family Harry, you won't win, say nothing, stop caring what strangers think of you, get on with your life and stay away from cameras and microphones, you'll be much happier if you do.

I don't think they necessarily listen to advice. If they did, the best advice is that talking to the media will never ever do them any favours. It didn't with Charles or Diana or Andrew. The only winner will always be the press. This is probably why the queen sticks to "never explain, never complain ".

The big mistake they made was dishing the so called dirt in public, I just cannot fathom what they were thinking, the majority of people would be mortified if a member of their family sold stories to the press, or plastered it all over Facebook, its just all 'he said, she said' stuff.
I cannot believe for one minute that they could not have asked for, and been granted help.
Ms Markel has shown her true colours in all of this and Harry has been sucker punched i'm afraid.
This sort of American tripe should be reserved for Jerry Springer, its all 'trailer trash', Harry has made his bed, now he must lay in it i'm afraid!

burleyshirley - // Good thread andy, agree with everything you say. //
Thank you.
// I wish they'd just go away now and live a nice, private life with their kids, but I bet they won't !! //
Unlikely, until Harry learns that not everyone in the world is going to love you, and strangers have opinions, right or wrong, and Meghan decides that she has enough of a profile in the US that she can take her foot off the pedal.
Until then ..
Thank you.

Like everyone I have read and watched loads of "stuff" about the interview but somehow or other I feel in my gut something very very sad or serious will happen, after the Diana interview - life was never the same for her, Andrew's life hasn't been the same and so I do feel sorry for Harry even tho he was mug, he is just besotted with the wife
