Forget your summer holidays.
A 4th surge with inevitable lockdown is a racing certainty despite the successful vaccination programme.
Don't blame the Politicians.

No night boat to Cairo for me then.
Jeezs...why can't people just stick to the rules? I've been ill for 5 weeks now. I won't even go to the shop or even leave the house.
Total numpties , water canon only answer!
morons, end of.
It makes my blood boil to think of the sacrifices most of us have been making to keep ourselves and other safe :-(
Exactly, why can't they see that their actions are leading to this all lasting longer.
Crowds were out in east and west Belfast celebrating Glasgow Rangers winning the league.
Just hope all those vaccinations were not in vain.
If you think there’s going to be a fourth lockdown, then what is the point of vaccination?
By the time the next “wave” hits there should be a much greater resistance to it.
Quite a few english cities had them. Seemed to be combined bunches protesting about BLM, violence against women, anti police, anti lockdown and anti the new public order measures and they shared beers after. Police wisely left them to it as some protestors were hoping to spark a conflict.
Yes bobbin, I heard that Police retreated to thier vans to avoid confrontation, although they were having bottles thrown at them.
100 thousand in London yesterday one report said...
Kicking Police vans, throwing bottles at buses, swearing and abusing. I wonder what proportion were genuine demonstrators and not simply activists seizing the opportunity.

Correct, providing that the vaccine is 100% effective (which it's not),providing that no "rogue" variant does not appear ( which is not guarantee) and that Government guidelines are strictly adhered to (which doesn't seem to be the case) .

//////^then what is the point of vaccination?//////

To give us a fighting chance to get to my first paragraph.

I’m afraid to say that there is not a cat in Hell’s chance of people remaining locked down in any meaningful way for much longer.

Initially the country was told it was necessary to “protect the NHS”. Did that. Then it was to “buy time for a vaccine to be developed.” Did that. Then it was necessary until the most vulnerable have been vaccinated. Near enough done that. Half the adult population has received at least one dose including all the most vulnerable. By July all adults should have been offered at least one shot and the most vulnerable will have had two shots. Now we’re being told that the problems in Europe may delay the lockdown ending.

//I heard that Police retreated to thier vans to avoid confrontation,.//

Yes, strange. They didn't do that on Clapham Common last week when they didn't have bottles thrown at them. Still, they did find the time to pop round to this 82 year old at 9:45pm to tear her off a strip for having a cup of tea in the garden with her neighbour:

That should make us all sleep sounder at night.

Summer is coming. If people cannot go to the pub or for a coffee they will meet in each other’s houses, gardens, in parks or simply in the street. Little old ladies may even venture into their garden for a cup of tea with a neighbour. They’ve protected the NHS, they’ve bought time for the vaccine development, they’ve waited for the vulnerable to be protected. They are not going to wait for the rest of the world to catch up. If you insist on shouting “madness” every time you see a few people together in the street you’d better get used to it because it’s going to happen more and more. There’s more to living than simply remaining alive and you don’t have to join in if you don’t want to.

Your quip was not lost on me, roy. I've already got my baggy trousers out ready for my holiday.
Perhaps FB should play its part and take down those that organise these events whilst we are in the midst of this pandemic?
Whats people wanting to go to a pub this summer got to do with this mindless violence new judge.
If people behave like this without social distancing then it may mean having to put back the proposed relaxations.. You may not get to your pub
