Amazing how many of the Brexiteers, who wanted to see the back of EU, having got their own way, now revert to banging on about EU over and over again. Forget it chaps, nothing to do with us any more, chill out and enjoy.
You would definitely be a mallet rather than a wood chisel in a box of tools, Canary.
Can you supply the link?
I don’t doubt it, but I tried to find more info
Thanks Emmie.
Hardly a startling admission. The RC president has already admitted that they were like trying to steer a juggernaut or indeed perhaps more like a huge vessel trying to manoeuvre in a canal (!)
EC not RC :-)
However I don’t think this addresses the current argument over Astra Zeneca and its contracts
It's the omission that's startling...or perhaps not.
Getting quite used to our friends in Europe trying to stick the boot in.
moaning itch ( that line from allo allo)
//The EC president admitted that they were like t e a huge vessel trying to manoeuvre in a canal (!)//

erm this is like Russia saying they lost the war because they were too big! They er didnt by the way - they were by far the biggest winners

is it only the Brits of all kinds that say that Ursula L and Stella the Greek just arent up to the job ?

[reminds me: I failed the exam because I knew too much.... not something I ever tried]
thx emmie
I thought it cdnt be true

but France and germany sacrificing lives in support of a european ideal is something to behold innit - and the frogs and huns putting up with it!

oh I have no difficulty with: if you have no vacca: say it is crap and not worth having....
I think you will find many Germans have a dislike of Ursula after her previous failings. This one is Germanys Dido Harding.
I doubted it I thought it was extremely unlikely Macron ( quasi ineffective) wd say that "we were crap at this"

ipsissima verba babies ( apolz to all the language bigots)

On a sans doute en quelque sorte moins rêvé aux étoiles que certains autres.

zad eez: we have without doubt in some sense failed to dream of the stars - - kinda
Thanks for the explanation Peter
most appreciated ;-(
// I think you will find many Germans have a dislike of Ursula after her previous failings.//

ask Khandi - - Khandi kissy wissy - are you there? is this true?
(he got a bit of an unfair battering last week)
U v L not popular in Germany?
Well I never ...

Suppose the EC commissioner has had a British incumbent.
Think who the candidates might have been ...
//Forget it chaps, nothing to do with us any more, chill out and enjoy.//

Think it is something to do with us if there blocking supply of what we funded and ordered
My prediction is that nothing will be blocked.
Mind you, India is talking of doing what the EU is talking of doing, and that hasn't been barely mentioned.
It's a sad day when the world can't unite properly in a common goal - and we're talking about "international covid passports"??
But it's been like that since the start.
I just feel sad that regardless of who made the mistake in not securing supply prior to it becoming available people are dying. I don't think we should be smug because we gambled on a few favourites and they came through. I wonder if when our most vulnerable are done we ought to slow and let the rest have some of our supply to help them catch up. In a global pandemic the old line really applies None are safe til we all are safe. A global problem needs a global view not a national one.

Oh yes I forgot, if we slow down vaccination we might not be able to go on our two weeks of Sun flashing our vaccinated status like a platinum card, nights on the lash might recede into the distance for a while, and the economy will be slower to recover. But our friends in other countries want to visit grandparents, get their kids back to school, and have space in their hospitals too.
What did you do in the covid war dad?
We were fine son, had our jabs and got on with our lives while the rest of the world was dying.
Very well said, rowanwitch.
I agree
I really do want the EU countries to get their jabs as soon as possible. I definitely am not gloating. But this doesn't mean I approve of the EU's attitude on this. It has been abysmal and the administration has shown it's true colours. I am glad we left and I am relieved and happy our vaccination programme has proved a success. It's entirely natural to want the best for ourselves. We want the best for our families, and our country.
