His funeral "Operation Forth Bridge" has been planned for years - although I imagine some changes might be needed to deal with current restrictions.

I am really sad today - I liked him a lot and loved the fact that he could sometimes be sharp and irascible. You only had to see the way he and Her Majesty looked at each other to know that it was a solid partnership. When she described him as her "strength and stay" I thought that was so touching.

RIP.

//Why should the queen abdicate in favour of William? She wouldn't bypass Charles if she did abdicate.//

As I said earlier, she cannot do that. The choice of her successor is not within her gift. Her successor, whether she abdicates or dies, is Charles.
"Will there be a State Funeral"

Highly unlikely. State funerals are virtually the exclusive realm of recently deceased monarchs. The Queen Mother didn't have one.
Do we know if the Queen was with him when he died?
There have been only two state funerals in my lifetime: King George VI in 1952 and Winston Churchill in 1965. Others have had ceremonial funerals. There is a difference but not such that you'd notice.
BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, CHANNEL 4, CHANNEL 5. All the same news at the same time. OTT in my opinion.
Why David? Normally, you can only watch pne.of them. Everyone got the news.

Anyway, bit late to the plate, but RIP Phillip, a life well lived.
already said there will be no state funeral.
In a way Covid may have been a good thing for the Queen ,with so many events cancelled she could spend so much more time with him before he died, glad he could die at home, it means so much. I can't begin to imagine what it feels like to have loved someone from the age of 13 and them to be gone and even when it is expected it is still so painful, and yes when someone you love has been ill for so long there is a sense of relief, and guilt for that relief.
The other thing is The Queen has a strong Christian faith so she will have hope to be reunited with him one day. I envy her that.
Does anyone know the answer to my question at 16.20 please?
LB, one can only think that she was, every moment treasured.
'The choice of her successor is not within her gift. Her successor, whether she abdicates or dies, is Charles.'

Watch out for drunken Chauffers, Charlie!
I don't know the answer for certain but I'd guess that she was LB.
It hadn't been released, I don't think it is something we will ever be told unless a servant leaks it. I suspect she would have been be very surprised if she wasnt.
R.I.P. Sir. Britain would have been a lesser place without your pragmatic presence. If ever a young woman, with a heavy burden to bear, needed someone then you were well chosen by circumstance. Never complained even though you would have been justified in doing so many times. My good lady still remembers your kind and amusing words from way back in the 60s when she was a slip of a girl. God help Her Majesty, your wife, at this pivotal time and us the time and patience to reflect without verdict.
