Maybe now the Cuban people will be able to vote for whom they choose, be able to travel outside their island and see relatives abroad and be able to go about their lives without secret police watching their every move. They may even have an independent judiciary and be able to own businesses without the state's approval. Let's hope it's a happy day for them.

what will happen to Guantanamo Bay ?
Nothing
what will happen to its status? Nothing
unlike her maj's bases abroad which are under the queens peace, guantanamo bay is specifically NOT under 'murican law and they can do what they like ( case 1944)
and do
Good President Obama swore to close it down
and then was shown tapes of released innocent detainees telling crazies how they guyed the americans for five years. They said they were gardeners and not boimb makers and this is how you do it.....
so Obama didnt close it
A bit like the ongoing London inquest where all the so called reformed ISIS convicts stabbed their helpers.....

//Americans, especially those who live in the northern states, visit Cuba, or they did before this Covid thing. They simply fly, or drive, to Canada and book a flight on a Canadian airline.//
That's true (although there are some direct flights from US to Cuba, particularly from Miami, New York and Washington). But there are not many US visitors. I've visited Cuba a number of times and don't recall meeting anybody from the USA whilst there.
One problem they have is that they cannot use US based credit or debit cards and they must take cash to fund their stay.
