The French have now sent war ships to Jersey.

About time we stood up to the French and they learned that we are not in the EU and they have no say over us anymore. If they enter UK waters then it should be one across the bow and the next into the hull.

hang on SD has scarpered, oh dear!
...gutless piece of ***?
We should deploy Trident at the earliest opportunity.
And Fission Chips can be the summer eating craze.
I haven't 'scarpered' - just been supermarketing.

It's nothing like The Falklands - for what it's worth (not much) I was entirely behind the legitimate action to remove the Argentine invaders.

It's all about whether Jersey pays its way (it doesn't) or acts to support the UK at times of trouble (it never has).

Don't believe any of the air-brushed rubbish about 'Brave Jersey' in WW2 - they rushed to collaborate with the Nazis before you could say 'merde' - a truly shameful passage in their already dubious history.

They have never lifted a finger to help the UK - constantly acting as a leech on the UK's finances and resources. They are happy enough to reject UK laws when it suits them - why should the UK bail them out (again).
I have a sister living there who has the diplomatic talent of a runaway Highlands bus at times. The family are wondering what role she played in upsetting our Gallic neighbours.....? We should remember that the French put a lot up on E-Bay, '10000 rifles for sale, never used and only dropped once.'
Dave - are you sure you aren't referring to Scotland under Nicola....?
The problem seems to be that Jersey is too slow at providing fishing licences to the French. A suggestion from the French is to cut off the supply of electricity to the islands. How will the Jersey computers be able to create the licences if there is no electricity on the islands?
they have diesel generators and they claim (DTel today) they have enough power to keep going - it must be that secret cable from the Scilly Islands that is their contingency....
