What do I think of the Conservatives’ performance on immigration over the past ten years? After a good(ish) start, which saw the introduction of some sensible measures, it has been downhill. Their record over the past five years, however, has been little short of abysmal.

If Breitbart doesn't report on it, who will (apart from Nigel that is.) nothing at all from MSM.

Gulliver, you don't know the meaning of serious.
Every PM has failed us on immigration and Boris is no exception. This little island will flamin' well burst one day with all the people arriving constantly to it !!
the problem is that many land here with no papers, no passport, no ID, so where do we send them back to.
It's not a case of sending them back, it's a case of stopping them from getting in which seems to be impossible !
Emmie //so where do we send them back to.//
To whence they came from.
Let’s just hope Priti Patel now takes the reigns on immigration and cocks a snoop at all the do gooders
( as for Danny, he’s one of nicest posters on AB, perhaps Mr G could take lessons on manners from him? )
if they come from Syria, do we send them back there, or from any country which is war torn?
if we don't know where they come from how can we send them back.
Emmie, from their last place of departure which in the main would be France.
i agree about stopping them from getting here in the first place, but the French seem to be incapable of stopping these boats from crossing the channel. I saw a photo of a more powerful vessel putting to sea with more aboard, heading for here, why can't the navy intervene.

Wouldn't hold my breath if i were you, Bobbi. I fear Ms Patel will prove to be as impotent as her predecessors in halting the influx of immigrants.
As for the 'do-gooders', they, too, would be impotent were the immigrants preventing from landing on these shores.
I think that it is probably time that the navy had a couple of gunboats patrolling the channel as they have off the coast of Jersey protecting our fishermen.
As a deterrent, Danny? The people smugglers know full well that we would not blast them out of the water. I'm a painter and decorator (semi-retired, at that) so i don't have a solution. What i do know is that the solution would have to involve the French. And we all know just how co-operative the French are:-/
Their record is terrible.
In 2010 the got elected on the promise to cut immigration from the hundreds of thousands, to the tens of thousands. They didn’t, in fact more came in than under Labour.

More recently they promised a points system to deter immigrants, but have not implemented one.
Whatever political situation arises, if there's a big reaction from the public that won't, or don't seem to go away any time soon, the government will appear to give it attention until it cools down, once cooled and the public seem to have got it off their chest, then its put on the back burner. When it all kicks off again, that's when you hear of what they said , or he said, they were going to do or implement last time, and it goes on and on, because no one has really got the ralls to go ahead and get what needs to be done.
10.00, Boris was Indulging on his Churchill Fantasies when he sent Gun Boats to Jersey, Plus an election.
was only days away. Another fantasie he has is Thatcher. When she was losing her grip , she sent troops to the Falklands. He just like a little boy playing with his tin soldiers.
Gulliver, here is the reason that gunboats were sent, what else do you suggest he could have done?
//On Wednesday, France threatened to cut power to the island if the country’s fishermen are not granted full post-Brexit access to UK waters//
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/14/newsid_2561000/2561187.stm

and hardly tin soldiers, we have one of the best services in the world. they may be fewer than some would like but they are well trained.
Gulliver puts this on, "Best stick to your crosswords the Danny , and leave the serious business to others." Serious business I hope that doesn't include gulliver, lol. Then he puts "Another fantasie he has is Thatcher talking about Boris." from someone who is fixated on Boris. You have to laugh. Where does he get them from lol.
