I don't think so.
Myself and a couple of other regulars spend hours on here debating the notion of Christianity with a few fervents who continually bang on about 'God's Plan' and to be honest, it was the first thing that i thought of when I read about this tragedy.
If any Christian on here is offended by my reference to a cornerstone of their belief, then their faith cannot be strong enough to be justified - it's not just for arguments on the Religion section, it's supposed to be everywhere all the time.
If you think I am wrong, feel free to ignore my posts, I have no problem with that.

On reflection, I would not wish the thread to be diverted on the basis of an observation of mine - valid though i believe it to be.
To reiterate, I cannot begin to imagine the pain this little lad's family must be feeling, to lose their little one through what is clearly the hand of fate, nothing more.
I always think that, for any tragic loss, people can comfort themselves with the thought of chance being involved, but something as rare as this makes the futility of his loss even harder to comprehend.

Thank you anne.
I do stand by my post, because it is motivated by the thought that I as an atheist have absolutely no problem with the random vicissitudes visited on the human race by the random hand of fate.
What galls me is how anyone can seriously suggest that something like this is planned in advance, by a deity that could stop it, and that something good will come of it, even if those directly inolved will go to their graves, never having had an inkling of what that 'good' was ever supposed to be.
