Help Needed With Metric Measurements, Please!

This is probably a stupid question but I am going to ask anyway.

I want to buy a plastic tub with a lid. I want to put a large tin of Butter Beans which weighs 400g (large tin of Butter Beans) in the tub. How big a tub do I need - they seem to come in litres. ?

400g. is a standard large can. Use an empty one, fill with water and measure the volume of water (or weigh the water...1g=1ml).
I, too, suspect 500 to 600ml would do the job (ie half a litre).

A can of strong lager is 0.5l, and is a bit bigger than a can of beans. If you can visualise lager and beans you should be able to work it out.
