When we raise examples the Tory's blunders within the life of this Parliament, we get the response "That's in the past, time to move on"

Yet now the Tory Cabinet are taking the moral high ground on something which happened over twenty years ago.

But I suppose any smokescreen will do to hide the utter incompetence of this Government.

Ridiculous post... but nothing new from you, Canary.
It matters not how long ago it was, it was an appallingly bad & deceitful interview, but what is even worse was the BBCs arrogance in covering it up & heads should & are rolling.

You are entitled to your view that the government is "incompetent" but from where I'm standing they look quite accomplished & according to the latest opinion polls, a lot of other people do too.
what are you on about Canary? Even by your standards this is a crass post. How is the Beeb/Bashir fiasco got anything to do with the government, now or then??
what's an interview done 25 years ago got to do with the Government of today.
Further to what I have said above, how about this, latest voting intentions; Con 46% Labour 28% !!!!

They're doing OK as far as I'm concerned. The railway reform looks great.
Pratti Patel is quick to twist the knife into the BBC, but she is forgetting who was running things in 1995.
We had a Conservative Government and part of their duties was to oversee the running of the BBC.
Perhaps Patel should keep her gob shut before heaping more embarrassment on her party.
Yep the cons are very quick in telling others they need to get their house in order, but continue to doctor their own short comings. Hopefully Cummings will bring a few to light.
who was running the government back when the interview took place.
PM was John Major.
Paigntonian

Nationalising the Railways is a terrible idea. Governments should not be running the railways, that should be left to professionals.
We have had a nationalised rail network before, and it was terrible - why do you think it will work this time ?
Usual rubbish from Canary.
they want to simplify the railway system apparently. The ticketing is a nightmare as it stands and so will be one thing they will sort out.
i must admit that i was surprised to learn they are re nationalising the railways considering what a bodge it used to be.
France has a nationalised railway and it's very good. Nothing wrong with a nationalised industry per se, it's how it's run that has been the problem.
This really is the daftest post. How could any administration - including Blair’s lengthy residence at No 10 - deal with this when the fraud has only recently been exposed? Get real for goodness sake!
Our railways were run badly when it was state owned but there is no reason why they cannot be run properly and with a profit as they are in much of Europe. We just need the right people running it.
Must have been typing at the same time jackdaw.
Have people already forgotten how abysmally bad British Rail were ?
Surely no one wants to go back to that. It was a national joke.
As anyone else noticed that canary drops these little nonsense bombs and then just dissappears from the thread's
yes we have bobb..
