If her assailant is black, then that will be a bit embarrassing.
If the person who pulled the trigger is white, then we are in serious trouble.

And no doubt most of us believe it to be an awful event.

Emmie didn’t speculate, she reacted with regret to the news. Waiting for more information before commenting is the correct thing to do because otherwise assumptions will be made which may not reflect what actually happened.
