I read today that the Queen has instructed her courtiers to not let any untruths go unchallenged. I believe this is because of the statements that came from representatives of the Sussex's about the name of their daughter and the video call said to be made from Harry to the Queen after the birth.
If this is true, then this is huge, as we know the Queen has always go down the 'Don't complain don't explain' route, so if it is true, then I wonder if this is getting too much for the Queen.
How will it work though?
Will the Queen call on her courtiers to go to the press to deny and further untruths?
Didn't you know, her majesty posts on here under an alias. I think it's Mamya, used to think it was Loftylottie, she came from Norfolk, maybe Sandringham....
I find that really hard to believe. She has always shown more dignity than to get involved with gossip or squabbles in the Press.
The only time I have seen "a response" was after an actual interview.
I would be very disappointed if she started to take gossip seriously.
I don't agree Pixie. If the press is reporting stuff that is false, then HRH Queenie needs to put them straight -and its about time in my opinion! I can't imagine Henri IIIV letting anyone get away with 'dissing his 'family innit' so why should Elizabeth II ?
pixie If it is true, then I can only think she is perhaps being pressured
into it or she is actually at the end of her tether.
I don't know if it's true or not but if she feels some untruths are causing harm to the RF and putting them in a bad light, perhaps she will do something about it.
Apg, she has always has a great reputation- while dismissing pointless gossip. If she joins in, she may as well be any other celebrity. No mystery, no dignity, no rising above it.
That might be what most of us would do- and would be perfectly fair for her, of course. But I think she is more aware than that.
Can't answer that pixie as none of us knows how she feels. In recent months she has had a lot to contend with, not least her husbands passing. Perhaps she just feels she has had enough or perhaps it isn't even true.
