I wear a mask everywhere apart from inside the house.
I'd say it's 50/50 here. I usually kept it on during cold weather, but not much now. It depends on where I am.
I've never worn a mask in the street.

Its gonna feel strange on saturday. Ive been wearing a mask outdoors since march last year. Id say 99% also wear em. So when you do see somebody not wearing one its seems weird.
Very few people wear masks here outside. I only wear one when I have to.
Question Author
Having said all that. Im sure some will still keep on wearing em. My way round it has been to go on long walks around parks where theyre not compulsory.
Where are you all living where masks have been on the street. I only recal that happening right at the beginning, virtually no one wears a mask in the street unless they just came out of a shop and forgot it (You see them ripping it off down the road).

I just came back from the hospital this morning. Yes, mostly being worn in the hospital but outside - no one. Young and old alike
Piggy, they aren’t compulsory anywhere outside

Bobby. There are in Madrid.

*they
I've never worn one in the street, the last round of adverts which were aimed at telling people they should meet outdoors stated that 'fresh air helps keeps the virus away'. Why wear one outside when there is no need?
More importantly piggy are they also dropping the ban on smoking outside in public spaces?
Question Author
Cashier, fear factor possibly.
Ymb then how is it giving the govt a message if people dont wear them?
Question Author
Funny you should mention smoking in open spaces Prudie.
Even thats impossible to enforce. Most bars with terraces have banned smoking. That might be lifted soon.
Only because I experienced it all in Menorca last September and it was all new to our countless previous visits - masks in the streets and walking to beaches (although not on them once sat down) and no smoking outside anywhere or at restaurant terraces. If you're not a smoker you won't appreciate how wonderful it used to be to be able to smoke at your table (outside of course) at the end of a meal.
It's not about where you live, YMB, it's more to do with individual preference. I choose to wear a mask outside whether I have to or not.
tigs, you are aware that masks are more for the protection of others?? Or they would be if they had any effect.
Why, tigger?
//Cashier, fear factor possibly.//

And there's the nub. Governments have controlled their populations by fear from the outset. There are stories in the press today of five-year-old children being too scared to venture beyond their front doors and suffering panic attacks when they venture out. This fear can only have been instilled in them by adults and they, in turn have been scared witless by the government.

The chances of a five year old becoming seriously ill with Covid are as close to zero as you can imagine. Yet here we have such children in need of mental health treatment because the government has scared its citizens witless without acquainting them of the true risk to the health of them or their children. It's a scandal - one of the many surrounding this sorry affair.
