the stock Beeb excuse by a skool leeva is that "so that it doesnt prejudice a criminal charge"
( altho halting a case thro prejudicial publicity ( I cant remember the last time) is rare and attended with howls of dismay from the usual suspects - - oh Daniel Morgan ( axe in head DM) - the policeman who was 'sure' a business associate had done it - - - coached a witness and the whole case got chucked in perpetuity)
Daniel Morgan elicited precisely NO thread when it was news last week. Fu-Fu kicks a dog and gets 7 d in the nick got 127 posts from outraged AB dog and cat lovers. Horses for courses

LOL PP.......long time ago when I was a Casualty Officer.
I tried to humour them if at all possible but it didn't always work and I feel that if Prof Whitty was that kind of temperament and allowed them to take a selfie, then this rather unsavory and embarrassing situation could have been avoided.
All blown out of proportion in my opinion.

I think when //demonstrators gathered outside what they thought was his home and shouted “murderer”// it's about more than taking selfies.

I think so, Sqad. Reminds me of being at school. If we reprimanded a pupil we'd often, very often, get the parent in to tell us off or even threaten us.
You can imagine the free pass that gave to the gloating children.
I was once followed along a corridor by a mother and child with the child saying....that's her Mum....you going to hit her now.
Mind you, the last I read about that child he was jailed for drug offences and car theft. Bet Mum excused that too though.
