Several years ago, I was in a huge Bass Pro shop (all manner of huntin', shootin' and fishin' gear)near Chicago and saw one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. Among the rows and rows of guns on display were a couple of small rifles, all pink and covered with pictures of flowers, obviously aimed (no pun intended) at young girls. Start 'em young...
Wow. Mind - boggled. I hope Lego's "cease & desist" is acknowledged & acted upon, or that Culpeper Precision can be brought to book some other way, before a child is killed or kills someone *because it looks like a toy*.
toy shops were full of toy guns for boys, and dolls for girls, when I was young. Not necessarily aimed at 8-year-olds as cute Lego guns might seem to be, but they were bought for young lads of all ages. Back in the days when Westerns were still a major movie genre (and when many parents had recently been to war), nobody thought any the worse of them.
For all that, I don't think we boomers grew up especially trigger-happy.
