Any display of common sense up here will be stamped out by a boggle-eyed Sturgeonite looking to cement their place in the Jockstag once things are formalised, sporrantroop er-wise.

I care if I’m infected but I can take a test to check that.
I don’t need to be told I was, or may have been, in contact, with someone who is infected.
Especially now. I have never used a T and T app largely because it felt pointless; while the pandemic was at its height I was ne er in contact with anyone for the required time - and the last thing I wanted was to have to self-isolate possibly needlessly.
Then there was the risk with manual T and T of being in the same place as someone who tested positive but not necessarily ever in contact with them. Particularly unfortunate as I think it’s been shown that you can’t pick the virus up from surfaces.
But someone should have foreseen an issue with an explosion of app pings once mostly vaccinated people starred mixing again in the midst of another wave of infections

My experience was the opposite. The only phone call I got from them was to tell me I was living with someone with covid and should isolate. 6 days (!) after she had already told me.

'...don’t you care if you are possibly infected?’
No.
I cannot spend my life wondering whether I have a virus or not. If I feel unwell I'll seek medical treatment (if it's sufficiently severe to warrant it). If I don't, I won't. In any case, I doubt I'll get any because the primary healthcare service where I live has all but ground to a halt, but that's another - albeit related - argument.
I've had my two jabs and almost everybody else who wants them should have had them by now. That's all I'm prepared to do because no matter what measures are imposed (short of locking everybody inside their homes 24/7 for the foreseeable future - and even that won't work because there will be people out on the street imposing the lock in) this virus will spread.
It is now apparent that measures to contain the virus have taken a huge toll on the (non-Covid) health of the nation, almost certainly far in excess of any damage caused by the virus. That's not to mention the economic damage that continues to accumulate. It's time to stop.

Not sure it’s fair to call it a “spy app”
Some countries as previously discussed do use apps to check whether you’ve left your house or not. I can see that the apps as developed here work anonymously. The Bluetooth just picks up a handshake ID and stores it for a while. Then that ID gets flagged if it is updated with a positive test result. If the ID is still on your contact list then Uncle Ping comes calling :-)
So it SHOULD all work without anyone knowing who you are

Neither of us has a smartphone, so the app doesn't apply to us - but my daughter switches her app. off and her husband has now removed it from his phone after it 'pinged' him when he'd been blamelessly working from home all day and hadn't left his house or garden!
Well done Scotland - a bit of badly needed common sense amongst the general hysteria which now seems to be the normal state for much of this country. Stiff upper lip recall time?
