Once again the winter is here and so its time to deal with slippery roads and so on.
I thought the other day wether it might not be easier for the school holidays to be split a little better than they are. If we took a week or two off the summer and hook it on to the winter hols it would work better. For one it would cut down on the heating bills for the scholls. Kids and parents wouldn't have to freeze their assets off on cold winter mornings. I always thought the summer hols were a little to long. Thios way everyone wins. Kids still keep the same amount of hols a year and they won't have time to get bored in the summer and less exposure to the cold in the winter.
What do other parents think
Thanks for your time

It was a compromise to stop them missing school altogether when they were needed at home.
Why we still stick to a school calendar that was designed for Victorian farming methods is a bit of a mystery when most things are done by machines these days!
I did hear rumours a while back that they were going to split the school year into four terms with equal holidays. They did do an experiment in Essex I think it was last year, but haven't heard any more about it.
