Like when they say the 'community is in shock' and are 'trying to come to terms with what has happened' and 'councilling is available for those struggling to come to terms with it'. I can understand relatives and close friends of the victims being in shock but for the rest of the community, it's just a topic of gossip.

London's a big place, pasta, things could happen 40 miles from me and still be in London but I probably wouldn't be too worried. But anything like this within five miles or so would be very upsetting.

I'm not so sure, Pasta. I'm in a different country but as I said on your thread I've been quite weepy today about the deaths and learning about those who were killed.
I think empathy comes into it. It could easily have been one of my grandchildren out with their toddler when somebody went crazy.
I feel so much for those who are dealing with the sudden loss of loved ones in this unimaginable way. How would I cope? God knows. My heart breaks for them.
