This is speculation. All the police have confirmed is that he had a firearm licence. Despite being pumped for information from the media, the chief constable would not be drawn on details and said as they got facts they would give the information.

and yes you can get a gun licence if you have a record
( depends which record, silly. But since records now go back to the year dot and are accessible to anyone, they put in filters)

If he had a firearm licence, that prescribes specific weapon(s) the holder is entitled to possess. He would need such a licence to possess a pump-action shotgun unless it was restricted to three rounds (one in the breach and two in the magazine).

A shotgun licence entitles the holder to possess any number of shotguns and they do not have to be individually mentioned. But a shotgun licence does not allow the possession of weapons of the pump-action variety (unless restricted to three rounds).

Well I haven't seen anything yet that would stop him being given a shotgun licence. Yes he made reference to 'incels' but it doesn't say he belonged, nor does it say he praised them or anything and anyway this may have occurred after obtaining the shotgun licence.

Early days of course so lets wait and see the real facts, then we can get the pitchforks out.
