then you just impoverish millions of farmers, davebro. Destruction by enemy action tends to drive people closer to their government rather than away from them.
“ His deadline for leaving was end May!//

Actually it was May 1st !!

So if Trump’s “orderly withdrawal” had taken place all this would have already taken place
The issue isn’t “orderly” or “disorderly” withdrawal it’s the lack of any sort of clue about would happen after it. Biden should have delayed the withdrawal by more than 4 months.
Trump’s agreement with the Taliban amounted to little more than “er well whatever you want and we’ll give it you. We’re off mate” :-)

Well yes of course. The drug economy is tightly integrated into the rest of the economy - as in Mexico.
ichi I was bemused by your use of the phrase Trump's "hopeless" deal & wondered where it came from, I have now watched 'Sloppy Joe's speech, -from which he shuffled off stage unable to face questions, & I see it came from him, himself !!
He must be encouraged to think he has at least one fan in the world at this moment .
Ichkira,

Do you not understand the term ‘orderly exit’?

Because Trump had a plan in place that would have supported the Afghan government and kept the Taliban at bay till the government were able to implement their own. Also Trump read the Taliban the riot act.

Touch one American and hell will reign down on you.

Because of that the Taliban kept a low profile til dementia Joe simply withdrew all troops leaving a void to be filled. Leaving billions of dollars worth of military hardware.

The Taliban may well have got to where they are but it would have been over a longer period and that alone could have been dealt with a bit more easily.

BUT, Not only did Dementia Joe NOT follow the Trump plan he also DIDNT listen to his own military who warned him and Kamala ‘last one in the room’ Harris that their sudden withdrawal Would result in EXACTLY what has happened.

This obsession with dismissing everything Trump did is tiresome as the truth is within your grasp. You just seem incapable of seeing it.
Great post, cassa.
Trump wanted to withdraw even earlier, and the point when the last American left would have been months ago. The result is not a surprise to anyone.

The Afghan puppet Government was always going to rapidly collapse, the Taliban were always going to quickly take over. Trump and Biden both knew this. There was never going to be a happy ending to this story.
Trump was elected in 2016 when he pledge to “Bring our troops home”.
To that ends Trump negotiated with the Taliban for 2 years, finally signing a peace agreement with them in February 2020.
Trump agreed to total withdrawal by mid 2021, when a Islamic Regime (the Taliban) would take over.

// The US and the Taliban have signed an "agreement for bringing peace" to Afghanistan after more than 18 years of conflict.

The US and Nato allies have agreed to withdraw all troops within 14 months if the militants uphold the deal.

Speaking at the White House, Mr Trump said the Taliban had been trying to reach an agreement with the US for a long time.

The deal was signed by US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban political chief Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a witness.

Mr Baradar said he hoped Afghanistan could now emerge from four decades of conflict. "I hope that with the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Afghanistan the Afghan nation under an Islamic regime will take its relief and embark on a new prosperous life," he said. //

We are now witnessing Trump’s peace deal being rolled out.
We are now watching Biden's(more ice cream nurse) skip fire methods as he tries to follow a simple Trump plan. Same as the energy, Tex Mex border, and economic plans that he has fouled up. No marxist squealing about insurgents storming a Capitol now is there? Where is fancy Nancy when she is needed?
Well said, cassa.
// How Much Support Does The Taliban Have In Afghanistan? //

By the looks of it, a damn sight more support than the puppet government.
When it came to it, Afghans didn’t think it was worth defending, and no one fought.
// Also Trump read the Taliban the riot act.//
oh woooooow !
I bet that scared them !

carry on fixing the world ! - - a bit like the afghan army - a lot of blaarting and no action
