WHUR Radio uses this piece to open up the "Soul Of The Storm" segment of their Quiet Storm radio program (this song usually plays at 11PM EST in their broadcasts). Since they use a piece of Smokey Robinson's "Quiet Storm" to open the program itself at 7PM, I don't believe that this is just some jingle that some studio cats recorded for the station. I've asked a few people that I know if they could identify it, and two of them have said that they think it is from Earth, Wind & Fire, but after listening to piles of sound clips for EW&F on the All-Music Guide site, I couldn't find anything that sounds like this (though the vocalist here does sound somewhat like Philip Bailey). If anyone could positively identify this, I would be grateful, since I really want to buy it (and as a final note, I have tried e-mailing the station a few times, to no avail)!

Hi ya. The track is called "Overture" by the Average White Band. A Scottish soul and funk group who had a hit with the instrumental "Pick Up The Pieces".

Cheers,

Gracias! I never would have figured that this was by them (but, given that it is largely instrumental as well...).
