I think hes' right to do what he is doing. Kurt Cobain made millions of dollars , I wonder how much his parents were given for that shot if anything? He wasn’t kidnapped by the photographer, and at 4 months old he didn’t crawl to the studio. Just by taking the baby to the shoot, the parents consented to the photo session, and there is no grounds for claims of exploitation.

The album has sold roughly 45 million copies and has made a very lot of money. It is a classic so original artists are entitled to make money for their creativity and skill.
