I would like to urge everyone not to forget Ellen MacArthur whwn casting their votes. I'm sure that the winner will be Flintoff as sailing is a little bit "niche" and her expoits happened a while ago. But she'll get my vote every time.

I reckon she might do quite well in the voting, but I agree it's (as usual) a foregone conclusion. It makes me laugh the way the BBC keep trying to build the excitement with their "who could it possibly be?" spiel.

Hmmm, I wonder. Remind me - who won it in 2000, the year Steve Redgrave picked up his 5th consecutive Olympic gold? Or 2002, the year Paula Radcliffe smashed the world record for the marathon. What about last year - the year Kelly Holmes won two gold medals at the Olympics?

This year, the year England won the Ashes for the first time in 18 years and Andrew Flintoff was the man of the series, we're all on tenterhooks again. Who on Earth will it be? ;-)

it really p1sses me off when people de-value her achievement.of course she was assisted by sat nav and a back up crew but arent they all ? she still has to make the boat follow the course and battle thru all weather conditions at any time - day or night.

B----y Ellen b----y MacArthur?!?! Don't make me puke!!! I'm fed up and sick to death with all the b----y hype about that b----y woman. I couldn't care less about her and her stupid b----y boat!!!! If nobody ever mentions her name again for the next twenty billion years, it will be too soon!!!!! If she ever goes out in that boat again, I hope she will be crashed on by a meteorite and sunk! I got completely fed up with the constant hype that she was getting every evening, especially on the ITV news. I hope that everybody in the world will spend the entire evening voting for everybody and anybody except her!!!
