Ex-military chief to oversee biggest shake-up of NHS leadership for 40 years.
Some of those empire building NHS 'managers' are not going to know what hit them. Go get them Sir Gordon and save our NHS.

1) We are still paying the EU so all that money is not available anyway.
2) To anyone with an ounce of sense and understanding of the English language he didnt actually say that (Although I was never a fan of that misleading statement)
3) The money hasnt been given to the NHS so where is he going to look?

this has been around for days. I suppose he's learnt something from Britain's triumphs in Afghanistan, eh? (Yes, he served there.) I don't see anything in his background that indicates he's fitted to reorganise a health service, but at least he'll get the nurses saluting on parade.
And if he fails ... shoot the Messenger.

gromit: "His career so far has been with efficiently killing people - the enemy. The functioning of the NHS is a bit different. " - ah bless, the same problem me old china, he will illuminate the enemy in this case inefficiency. Not surprised you struggle with these concepts gromit as you are primarily a 5th columist.
the best way to fix the NHS is to halve the budget, tomorrow. Then stand well back while the empire builders try and save their own skins by getting shot of the useless uckf3rs in their teams. That's stage one..... The problem is that politicians of all sides have been terrified of making changes since it's inception. Which was the only thing a labour government ever did of use by the way. It takes Boris to have the bottle to have a got at sorting it, well done Boris.
ymb thinks leading the marines is a sign of omnicompetence. I've just pointed out some facts that suggest otherwise. Sorry if you can't handle the truth.
ymb is also full of glee at the idea of managers "not knowing what hit them". Well, there was a man who didn't know what hit him - another victim of a "shake-up". Not very gleeful after all, is it?

I’m sure the General will be more than able to identify huge swathes of the NHS that can be reformed and improved. Anybody with a modicum of organisational acumen could. However, he’s wasting his time (and our money). No government will implement any meaningful reform of the NHS. The General’s recommendations will be filed in the “Too Difficult” drawer. Governments will continue to pour ever increasing amounts of taxpayers’ dosh down the Black Hole. They will continue to measure their success at “running” the NHS by the amount of money spent. They will continue to ignore the decline in outcomes that the service will inevitably deliver because of its mismanagement.
The NHS needs abolition and starting from scratch. Tinkering with it as it is will never work. But that’s too difficult as well.
