Joanna Lumley Calls For Rationing

As I understand it she wants everyone to be given points to spend on things that have a negative effect on the climate - fuel for the car, gas and electricity in the home, flights, meat, new clothes, imported food, imported everything...
Everyone would have a set number of points to spend as they wish for one year, and when they are gone, that's it.
I can see many problems with this - racketeering on the black market being one.
Good idea?

What about those who don't drive, or what if your house is bigger? Maybe energy would be allotted according to the size of your house...or which part of the country you are in. Too many variables to make it fair for all.
When you are a £millionaire and you are receiving royalty cheques for work you did a quarter of a century ago, it is very easy to come up with a stupid plan like Lumley has done.
In the real world where you are on minimum wage and on less than 20 hours/week contract, then you cannot afford to pay more to keep your kids warm and fed.

Some of these people would be more believable if they themselves didn't spend most of their lives jetting around the world. As others have said they say these things but the rules they think up can't apply to them. I remember JL sayin years ago on a chat show when asked if she would consider marrying a divorced man and she said that she wouldn't want someone elses castoff. She herself was divorced at the time. Double standards again come to mind.
