A lot of wet tories, labourites, 5th columnists, RBID ers etc keep pronouncing it's time for the PM to go, yada yada. No one seems able to outline the method by which he might go but hey ho, I don't expect much but here's what I'll do. I'll have a £10 bet, charity of your choice, with anyone on this site that Boris fights the next general election for the Tories. Let me know if you want to take the bet, I'll bookmark this page for future reference. Who is in?

TTT//the method by which he might go //
If he continues to upset his MP's then he might be facing a vote of no confidence.
maybe he'll step down ... he'll have 2 (more) young children soon
Question Author
he has an 80 seat majority.
Question Author
and even a VONC does not remove the PM, next...
Question Author
10:46 that's the only real way he'll go nobs.
If the party thinks it can win with him then they'll keep him, if not they won't.
Stating the obvious perhaps, but there you go.
An 80-seat majority says a lot of candiates could shuffle over the finish line first, no matter how lamely, Johnson included.
Tory leaders are quite powerful in general anyway: they don't have the same mechanisms for removal that labour ones do.
So no betting from me, other than someone other than me is bound to point out that this isn't chatter bank material :-)
Unless johnson drinks himself into an early grave between now and the next GE then I agree with you toratoratora... he's kicked out most of his opposition so...
TTT //even a VONC does not remove the PM,//
//
a vote showing that a majority does not support the policy of a leader or governing body.
"he was removed from office following an overwhelming vote of no confidence//
Question Author
Yes but it's a VONC in the government are enough of his own MPs going to vote to remove themselves? ...even if they did the PM remains and it just means another GE and I win. next.....
Question Author
ich: "So no betting from me, other than someone other than me is bound to point out that this isn't chatter bank material :-) " - so where then?
There isn't going to be a successful VONC in the government. I would bet on that!

If there was, having started out with an 80 seat majority then I'd also bet it would be the end for Johnson. But that scenario won't arise
I am happy for it to be here tora, but usually someone complains
Question Author
yes but where should it be then?
Grumpy me was going to suggest it be moved*...but my tablet froze.

*though you may have intended this as light hearted, we all know it won't end up that way. Maybe get it moved to news...
Question Author
I'd be happy in news but then I'd have got a rollicking for that too!
Question Author
Still no takers mind!
'"someone other than me is bound to point out that this isn't chatter bank material :-) " - so where then?'

How about Politics or Current Affairs?
he'll be offered a peerage, and decide that a quiet and well-remunerated life in the Lords is better than having even the Daily Mail regularly calling him an idiot.
Question Author
so you are taking the bet then jno?
i'll take your bet tora
