It's too soon to tell either way. Ten years from now we will have a clearer picture, 20 years from now we might be sure. It will take years to disentangle the problems arising from our time in Europe, only then will we be able to work out if we are better placed to deal with the world as a whole. I remain hopeful we will come out of this in a reasonable position but there were always going to be big problems in the aftermath of leaving.

Yes, I disagree. Given the Covid crisis it's not going too badly. A little (lot) more determination to get rid of EU rules would improve the situation and I think it's time we activated Article 16 on N .I. Protocol and slugged it out - although it may be better to hold off until the new year.
It was always going to take time. 5 - 10 years should give a clearer answer - and we need braver politicians and a less negative media.
