Fat chance - I've just made a booking on the first available date - 4th January.

Last time I tried a couple of weeks ago it wouldn't even let me book as it said it was too early to do so.

So, which is it ?
(a) Boris is lying again
(b) Boris hasn't got a clue
(c) He means Xmas 2022

Wow, what a lot of lovely responses - sorry to not respond earlier but as I explained elsewhere recently, I spend a lot less time in Answerbank now.

To answer some of the responses :-

1. My local surgery failed to call me for Jab 1 (but informed me via answerphone not to call them). I eventually did call them and got the jab 15th March.

2. My local surgery failed once more to call me for Jab 2 (but informed me via answerphone not to call them). I eventually did call them and got the jab 24th June.

3. My local surgery failed to call me for Booster. I tried booking Booster online in October but was barred (until 24th December) from even booking. I tried again last week and got an appointment 4th January.

4. My local surgery did send me a flu jab reminder and I got mine successfully last week.

It would appear the fault is with the local surgery, how can I be on the flu jab register but not the Covid one in spite of reminding them on 2 occasions.

I am 79.

It does indeed appear to be a postcode lottery.

There are no walk-in places round here AFAIK.

Finally, thank you again for all the helpful responses, my delay in responding does not mean I'm not extremely grateful for them (except the trickle of snide ones - I guess you know who you are).

Must be poor administration, they keep me on track for the flu jab.

Canary, If they left messages on your answerphone they must have called you. You obviously missed their calls. Give them your mobile number so they can text you in future.

He is very lucky indeed Naomi. It appears that Boris works at the local GP's and personally controls the booking system

naomi, the messages would be on the surgery's answerphone rather than Canary's, as they were on my GP's - "please do not call requesting Covid jab appointments".

So if your second jab was on 24th June you were'nt due for a booster until first week in January anyway.

So you misunderstood the way it works.

My surgery never contacted me but they didnt need to as I was proactive and booked mine online as soon as my age category opened up. I didnt expect to be spoonfed, I prefer to choose time and date to suit me not hang around and wait for my overburdened surgery to do it

isnt your booster booked in for 10 days after you become eligible for it?
Why all the moaning (considering that 10 days also includes 3 bank holidays!)

it works differently now, bobb, the wait is only three months. I don't know the science behind bringing it forward; it may be more the general eagerness to have everyone get a booster asap for winter.

However, Canary did his best to be proactive. He rang to enquire and got the answerphone message to go away. March was really quite late for a 79yo to be offered one - I had mine in January, April and early October, and I'm a good deal younger.

Am puzzled s towhy canary had yo wait so long for first jab. At 79 he should of been able to book for Feb I reckon.
Maybe surgery's should contact those who may be elderly and may not have Internet
