- and if you voted for Christian Wakeford as a Conservative would you be miffed that you now had a Labour MP?

Today's news, just heard on BBC2 news so no link.

There is little support for David Davis.

The number of votes (54) needed to raise a vote of no confidence is now unlikely to happen.

Hmm
I seem to recall the same when Mrs Thatcher was rowdily cheered to the dispatch box by her own side
6 weeks later she was gone
Just have to wait and see. All I know is I'm sick of all the rubbish media having a ball.
Sticky // I'm pleased to hear that. Brits (of all stripes) don't like rats & seeing a man kicked when he's down.

Re. the OP: Wakeford is toast & he should start working out what he will do with the next part of his miserable life.

What if the MP you elect does absolutely nothing for your constituency yet represents the party you wish to see in power?

No idea what that is alluding to

Not sure anyone is being kicked whilst they are down
But the knives are certainly out for an incompetent and bumbling clown with a propensity for untruths who is happy to see others fall on their swords for his misjudgements and failure to comply with the very rules which he himself set out so vigorously
Always looking to point the finger at others instead of shouldering responsibility himself
Davis had his number yesterday with his appraisal of him over the last 6 weeks
Ken, I don't know who your question was aimed at, but I gave my thoughts on this at 10.44
And 10.54

Johnson has certainly been fatally wounded by all this.
If there was a mood of solidarity among Tories yesterday after Wakeford (but still no one prepared to get up and defend the PM personally in the House) and despite the mood being buoyed by the PM’s welcome statement on Covid restrictions, you feel it’s only postponing the inevitable.

There’s more poison today
Pat my question wasn't aimed at anyone specific. I was just throwing it out there.
Stickybottle, Boris isn’t perfect. Neither am I and neither are you, but he's rallied the populace like no other, he's worked damned hard to keep this country afloat throughout unprecedented times and from where I'm sitting he's done a pretty good job. I can't think of anyone else who would - or could - have done what he's done. Like it or lump it, he's seen us through Brexit and the pandemic, and the very last thing this country needs right now is the petty-minded jumping on their pathetic political bandwagons at every opportunity for the sole purpose of bringing him down - because that's precisely what this is about. As I said the other day, if you take the moral high-ground you'd better make damn sure your place there is secure because from what I can see his holier than thou detractors are balancing rather precariously. If you and the rest of his critics succeed in your purpose you'll deserve everything you wish for - and everything you get.
Naomi, you keep saying Johnson has seen us through the pandemic. There are many who believe he has mishandled Covid from the word 'go'. He has not followed the science, he has cherry picked his way through scientific advice, often acting on said advice weeks after it was given. Just about the only thing he is to be congratulated for is the roll out of the vaccine. Even then, the success of the vaccine is mainly down to the hard work and dedication of NHS staff, not the government.

I stopped reading after that as I was struggling through the laughter

Nobody is expecting him to be perfect
However I and many others expect him to be competent and truthful
To recall whether he was or was not at a drinks event
To remember his own legislation and to stick by it and lead by example
Not conveniently forget when it suits and make continued pathetic excuses about it whilst blaming others
He is not a statesman who will fondly be remembered as such
He has no gravitas
Zero respect and his own party have finally got the measure of him
He has somehow fallen into high office by default and the populace are seeing on a daily basis what a pathetic spectacle he is making of himself but also the denigration of the office and stature of Prime Minister of this country
Ken //There are many who believe he has mishandled Covid//

I know. They could all have done better.

I mistakenly thought it was you who had said; //Today's news, just heard on BBC2 news so no link.
There is little support for David Davis. //

But I see you were just quoting Pat. I should have known better, & when I said, " Brits (of all stripes) don't like rats & seeing a man kicked when he's down." I of course exclude you & Gulliver - that is if you are in fact British.

// Tho Bury South isn’t a classic diehard Labour seat by any means//
previously Ivan Lewis 10 000 majority ( Lab)

and it well known and established we vote forda MP and not the party and so it is NOT correct to say that as a Tory he goes to London and votes as the whips direct for four years

Nothing different there then

Harold Wilson ever the innovator ( of failed policies n crezzy ideas) tried a presidential election 1970 - he jetted modern style all over the country drumming up support
"the prime minister visited Devon North today..." - beamed the marxists at the Beeb I recall,
five year plan - incredz that they / we believed that policies that failed in Russia in 1925 would work in 1965
but heigh ho that is politics for you
-- answer removed --
// It was Labour for years before that so if a Labour candidate won a by-election there it would come as no surprise.//

do I detect an implication - and so there is no point in having one -

oh well this is AB in full swing

I shall reword it

Easy mistake to make when you are so confused I guess ?
As for British
Yes I am
More so than you I reckon
Unless you have served queen and country ?
National service maybe ?
// I seem to recall the same when Mrs Thatcher was rowdily cheered to the dispatch box by her own side. 6 weeks later she was gone//

Heath was cheered after losing an election by his MPs
and was gone soon after
cast adrift even

is the mods deletion policy tilted towards Boris ? who has he kissed amongst them I ask
