They should put rules in for cyclists and pedestrians too.
Traffic lights apply to you as well!
Will the bikests be compelled to use the cycle lanes when they are available after we spent £squillions providing them for their safety and convenience? If not, why not?

That is generally the bombproof jaywalkers with their headphones on !
Nothing about cyclists NOT riding on pavements then.

Had that discussion a few weeks back
Yes it is illegal
However I would rather see my grandchildren ride on the pavement than on the road

I think we forget that small children ride bikes
They do not drive cars though
I'm Talking about adults riding at full pelt on busy pavements, Bristol is a nightmare with electric scooters and cyclists on the pavement.
Both of them are very sensible, & about time too. There should be high penalties for motorists who do not obey the new rules.

Thanks for the clarification

I fully agree

Made worse by policemen like this

Not seen any policeman collar any of those scooter riders yet

Anyone have any knowledge of such ?
Not seen many around my way lately but have no idea if that is down to the weather ?

As Barsel at 17.04 says these rules need to apply to everyone not just the motorist. I stopped at traffic lights the other day as they were on red and cyclist who was in front of me went straight through. I drove last night and 3 cyclists, 2 coming towards me and 1 going same way riding in middle of road with no lights at all. They built a bridge over the river a while ago for pedestrians and cyclists as the road over the river is quite narrow but do they use it, no they still use the road. If they want to bring in these rules then they have to apply to all not just some. Rant over.
More insanity from nudge central.

Nah, the police ignore them and the illegal scooters(we have legal one to hire in Bristol) privately owned scooters can only be used on private lane.

Private lane ? Is that routine in Bristol ?
Around here the scooter riders all use the road but as you say there are no police around to approach them anyway

But as I said earlier I have not seen a scooter rider for weeks which I find surprising so soon after Christmas
When no doubt they were given as gifts etc
But then it has been very cold and I never see the riders wearing gloves
Probably increase again when the weather warms up
Giving way to pedestrians waiting to cross at left turn junctions. What if the vehicle driver forgets/not aware of the new rule? In some towns and cities, there is sometimes a long stream of pedestrians crossing such junctions without much of a gap could cause impatient drivers. All accidents waiting to happen.
What annoys me, and it's in the link, even if there is a cycle track, cyclists are not obliged to use it. Why not, who else was it built for?
This was many years ago, for horse-riding. But we were always advised to have 2 side by side- around the width of a car. Which seems the same principle for cyclists...
To make it a shorter space for overtaking, and to prevent motorists trying to squeeze past.
The worst thing in a car, is when cyclists are single file, but spread out, so you have to overtake just 1 or 2 each time.
Common sense would say to keep as compact as possible, but on narrow country roads, with just one car behind you, move in.
Drivers, go and get dashcams fitted. I see blame flying around and it will be your best alibi.
It makes no difference, dagman. If a cyclist or pedestrian gets injured, it is "always" the fault of the motorist. They are usually the only ones with insurance.
Don't think so.
where I live a lot of cyclists in and out from inside lane, what I go mad about - walkers walking right out in front of you with a mobile and eyes down
Woe betide you if your cyclist is also a vegan, too much attitude for two wheels.
