Boris is a giant spoilt baby. He needs to be spoilt and pampered or he can't function. Carrie knows this which is why she organised a birthday party for him while 7-year-old girls were cancelling their own. No party and he would have been in a huge sulk and we might have threatened Russia or something. What other explanation is there for a birthday party for him?...

They are not stories Pat, its the truth, lots of people suffered and still are. But if the government keep on telling lies and making excuses, then the BBC and the like will use whatever pressure they can to force the government to come clean. Its fine to keep calling them sob stories if the past 2 years didn't affect you to the degree it affected others.
Teapot

My idea of "sob stories" are those that are designed to pull at the heart strings, stimulate and excite the emotions and give emotional credence to the issue in mind.
Yes.......peoples funerals, birthdays etc were curtailed but so what, going on about it some 2 years later and receiving a fee ( I guess) is what I call a "sob story" as does Pat.

Sqad, And so do I. The really stupid thing is the suggestion that none of the people who attended these 'parties' at work were affected by restrictions outside work. They all, I guess, saw their families regularly, held proper funerals for their loved ones, visited their sick relatives in hospital, went to see their old grannies in care homes …. course they did!! No - they didn't! For goodness sake stop the hysteria and get a grip …. unless of course you’re enjoying it.
I'm getting on with life, Sqad and Pat but my mother's death from Covid isn't something the family will forget.
Yes, the funeral wasn't the one she had asked for....her church....her hymns but at least she didn't know.
What hurts the family is the many, many days she took to die alone without a kiss goodbye....a hand hold....the last words my brother could have spoken to her in the hope she could get a little comfort from them.
Perhaps it doesn't hurt for TV channels to remind those who didn't lose anyone that it wasn't the easiest of times. That Johnson was partying his way through it rubs the salt in.

Personally, I don't care about all these damn parties (a lot of witch hunting going on), but then I didn't lose a loved one during the pandemic who I was unable to visit in hospital or attend the funeral of and I'm pretty certain I would feel differently if I had, especially if it was one of my beloved parents, BUT the fact remains I didn't, so I am quite happy to move on from all of this and as I have said before, I would prefer to have Boris in power than any of the other so called likely candidates !
The point is the people who attended these 'parties' were work colleagues - together day in and day out. Outside work they were just like the rest of us - obliged to follow the rules - so these stories really aren't relevant. Doubtless some of those people could tell stories of heartache too.... as could many of us .... if we so chose. People having a glass of wine at work changes none of it.
Corby, //Were they not meant to follow the Regs and guidance within and without work? //
Indeed ... although I'd hazard a guess that if they'd been drinking a cup of tea together - as they probably did daily - instead of a glass of wine peace would have reigned. Off with their heads, I say! This is utterly pathetic!

I'm sure you know enough about me from my posts, Sqad to know why I have no trouble in moving on.
I still have the ability to feel for those like my brother and Mum's grandchildren who, unlike me, were so close to her and were only allowed to look through the care home window once in her dying days.

One difference is people were charged and fined at the time often with police raiding the event and after warnings ro disperse.
I doubt anyone was charged retraspevivly over 18 months later.
Still I hope if charges are justified on this high profile case at downing street they will be and fines given and resignations
