I doubt Johnson cares about damage to the reputations of others - individuals or institutions - as long as he saves his own skin. But these things matter. Rapid conclusion and full publication of the findings of inquiries surely now essential for public trust.

That would be fandabbydozey !

jno et al were moaning that plod should get involved the other week now they are moaning because they are getting involved. You can't have it both ways me old china!

World of difference between involvement and interference/suppression of a supposedly independent report
Allegra Stratton and Lord Geidt are two who have had their reputations sullied by Boris
Sad now that we have to add the name of allegedly the most impartial and fiercely honest member of the civil service to his list of shame
It might look to some as though government and police collusion are undermining democracy itself

We were saying Raab was incorrect when he tried to fob us off either the stupid suggestion that the police do not investigate events from the past.
But the Police listened and dutifully did NOT start an investigation despite the wealth of information in the public domain, thanks to Cummings.
Now within hours of the conclusion of the internal inquiry, the Police are suddenly interested and are blocking publication.
Dick is a disgrace and Johnson is shameless. The sooner we are rid of this pair of incompetent idiots the better.

Yes indeed
All very odd that on Tuesday the Met were more than happy for the Gray report to be published
Friday they decide on caveats
Ironically as a professor said earlier whilst being interviewed on the bbc the damage is done and the longer it drags on the worse it looks for Boris
the party and for politics and parliament alike
Boris has done untold damage to the reputation of politics and now is even making democracy questionable

Pat, why do you think the BBC isn't right-wing?
Director General: former deputy chairman of the local Conservative party, stood as a Tory council candidate.
Chairman: prominent Brexiter, donated £400,000 to the Conservative party.
Most recent appointment to the BBC board I could find: Brexiter, Theresa May's director of communications; failed to declare his position as head of a Tory lobbying group. (No surprise as the only "independent " member of the panel to appoint board members, tadaa, donated £50,000 to the Conservative party.)
How much more right-wing could they possibly be?
The Conservative party is where the BBC recruit from. I did know a BBC reporter once who wanted to run as a Labour candidate, but he had to leave his job. That's how these things work.

Have the beep reported on the EeYou commission probe into von der Leyen's probably corrupt 1.8 billion "covid jabs" stitch up? Or her refusal to divulge text messages that she is legally obliged to show? No? Who'd of thought. The remainiacs remind me of those demented Japanese soldiers who crawled out of the jungles 30 years after WW2 hoping that it was still on. No weapons, half starved, dressed in rags, and no idea what was happening anywhere else other than in their tiny broken minds.
In an ideal world she'd ignore the met's request and publish it in full. It's in the public interest to know the truth of what happened.
All that the police investigation can and will do is to issue a few fines to some low level scapegoats. Their investigation is not as important as the Sue Gray one.
I say in an ideal world, because that obviously isn't going to happen.

Sue Gray is not the publisher is she?
Her function is to hand in her report to Boris
possibly with the words - "here is the report you commissioned about your misbehaviour and now you have to decide what to do with yourself"
Boris cd then do the redaction....
and all the bag-carriers and sherpas in the govt are afraid they will be sacked - - they are quite correct in their fears, innit
