it's a pretty good ruined castle, Bobbi, I visited years ago (decades before Covid) and enjoyed it. The town's nice too, even if your eyesight's fine, honest.
Jno, I know I’ve passed through many times but for English Heritage to include it since the Cummings visit and shop keepers talk of people asking where the SpecSavers shop is he allegedly visited….is weird :0(
//Old prisons are great to visit as long as the key doesn't turn after you.//
Cant argue with that...
Ive re-visited a couple of times
(on the request of friends)
And its nice to be able to leave when you want.
(And also to be able to visit the parts that you cant see as a regular prisoner, such as the execution chamber etc,)
Apologies Bobbiesox, didnt mean to detract from your thread.
Just that humans will visit anywhere....
//English Heritage has said it was among many “hidden local gems” which saw an increase in visitor numbers during 2021 as more people turned to places on their doorstep due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.//
People probably got to see more of this Country than they ever had before that's a good thing.
I am very glad for the people of Castle barnard...
I regret - Dr Shipman's surgery - opposite a group practice down the hill of the main street - was a place to vizeet. Hyde townspeople didnt like it much....
Seems a bit strange to get worked up about people visiting an old castle. The picture make it look quite idyllic. I'm sure not everybody is going there to visit the local Specsavers.
