I know there will be some of you who will disagree, and some who may agree, but thats the beauty of discussion forums.

I believe,

that in 1982, Margaret Thatcher allowed the Argentinian invasion, she knew they were making noises in that direction, but did nothing, at the time, she was not doing well in the polls.

I believe,

That this present goverment, ludicrous as it sounds, allowed this terrorist attack to happen, they may not have known when and where, but they knew it was going to happen, yet they downgraded the terrorist alert, and now, no enquiry. very fishy.

Just wondered what others might think on this.

spudqueen, that was just one of quite a few things that happened after Argentine started threatening invasion, but i'm not going to carry on justifying my post, in the light of some of the answers.
Loosehead - you have got your hat trick! With you on this one too!

Hello again Chessman. a more considered answer this time. the Argentinian leader a the time General Galtierri ( if my spelling is correct ) really did need to do something popular with his people, i think the country was in serious financial trouble, so he decided to invade the Falklands to avert attention away from the matter!!! M Thatcher had her faults but she always did what she thought was right for the UK , and she had no alternative but to protect UK citizens. Shortly arter the war the General was thrown into prison. ( ha ha ) And on the second matter, the people responsible there are the people who preach that the ills of the world are all cause by evil westerners and who would, if they could ,kill all westerners. I don't think anybody in our government falls under that heading,do you. Lets never try to blame anybody other than the real culprits.

I'm turning into Gary!
just to say i didn't say that theU.S were anything to do with the terror attacks just that they ignored the intelligence because they assumed the terrorists wouldn't pull it off or something
And let's not get on to the Belgrano incident ok!
The entire Falklands fiasco was down to Maggie Thatcher, in 1982 Maggie had been voted the worst prime minister in Britains history, the chances of her being re-elected were zero, the only hope she had was to win a war against a third world country called Argentina and she and her scumbag co-horts worked this to perfection.

Come on people you couldn't be this stupid
You poor deluded sole, you are blinded by your hatred of the best peacetime PM in history. The facts speak for themsleves. If only you could be objective. So Maggie started it did she? How exactly? did she call up the Junta and say "come and have a go if you think you're ard enough". You lefty's hate her so much because she proved your flawed ideology wrong and the worst thing you can do to a lefty is disagree with them of show them up. Enjoy wallowing in your ignorance.

coyn, Where exactly was this vote? daily Mirror? Morning star? TUC?

did you even read the other posts before sweeping it all away with the stock Thatcher hating line?

Here we go again. Someone dares to stand up to the lefty ideology and what do the pinkos do. Oh yes - name calling. Thought we were out of the school playground.

Back to this thread, much as I dont like the present regime I'm very sure they did not allow anything to happen that they could not prevent. As for Maggie - what exactly was she supposed to do when they were making noises in that direction - set sail for Argentina. Wonder what all you dyed in the wool pinkos would have made of that.

Get real people. Tough decisions have to be made by people in power. It is not plain sailing whatever your belief.

I'm a pinko lefty and even i know Thatcher didnt start the blinking war. She milked it for all it was worth yes but she didnt start it. Politicians are cynical exploiters and it is in their interest to stay in power. The falklands thing was almost inevitable and the Argentines thought they could get away with it and you can say what you like about Thatcher but she took no prisoners from those who crossed her. She reminds me of those lions that eat their own young to keep the bloodline strong.

Thanks for the backup coyn, now I know what General Custer felt like, but as far as Margaret Thatcher is concerned, I think no-one doubts what was likeley to happen to a British dependency, and she didn't even try to avert it.
Question Author
That should have read, I think no-one doubts she, (M.T.), knew what was going on.
If you start believing conspiracy theories you'll end up in the nuthouse!
